i just installed a turbo timer today and after i installed it i now cant boost past 7-8ish psi when my high boost setting is 17-18ish.. i dont know what i could have done that could have comprimised my boost levels.. anyone?

Remove the turbo timer and see if you can run more boost. If you can, then it's turbo timer related (don't know how). Most likely, it's not. You goofed something up during the install.

I doubt the turbo timer has anything to do with your boost problem unless you shorted something which effected ignition. Does the car sputter and bog? How does it spool? At what RPM?... It's probably one of or combination of the following.

1. A disconnected actuator arm.
2. A defective actuator.
3. A dying turbo.
4. Boost leaks.

Good luck.

doesnt sputter or anything, boosts normaly except not at the level it should.. i installed everything right that i know of so i doubt it could be the timer but i'll unhook it and see in a bit.. pretty sure the arm is in good shape, and i doubt the actuator would go out in a 25 min span while its sitting would it? i dont know what rpms it fully spools at but i'll check that too

Forgot about exhaust leak before o2.

I didn't say it is or it isn't. I simply gave you a list of possible causes, it's up to you to eliminate them.

i know, i was just asking if it was possable for it to go bad that quickly while it's sitting...

anyway, unpluged the turbo timer, didnt do anything to help.. and it fully spools around 4K

the timer has a boost level indicator and it had .52 bar as my highest level hit

ok well i've gone over all my vac lines, double checked them then checked em again, and there all fine, i havent checked for leaks on the fmic yet but that's next but i still dont understand how this could have happend all of a sudden just because i installed a turbo timer  any other idea's?

The ONLY way to check for leaks is through a real leak test like this, http://www.vfaq.com/mods/ICtester.html during idle, the intake trac isn't pressurized so there no air to leak. Here's what I just posted for another thread, if you follow it step by step you should be able to find your cause. I just cut and pasted.

1. Check the actuator arm and make sure it's still connected to the wastegate lever. While you're there, also check and make sure the wastegate is fully closed with the arm attached.

2. Disconnect the vacuum hose between the actuator and your mbc and test run. You're looking for all out boost so watch your boost gauge and feather the throttle at 15psi. If problem fixed, you have a faulty actuator that opens prematurely. If problem persists, go to step 3.

3. Perform completely boost leak test. If problem persists after you fixed all leaks, you can say with high level of certainty that the turbo is on it's way out.

thanks for the info, i'll get to that by saturday hopefully once i can snag cash for parts

i just thought of something, the previous owner put in a a/f gauge, i know there basicly useless on the turbo model so i never pay attention to it and didnt even think about it when i cut the wire to it... could me cutting this wire have the effect on the car that im haveing?

It shouldn't have anything in the least to do with it. I removed my A/F gauge the same way (cutting the wires out and making sure nothing was left of them). Your problem is most likely mechanically related and not linked to electronics. I'd follow oldman's advice and see what comes of your boost leak test.

Let us know what you find,

Andy

thanks for the info guys, i think i found the problem, there's a hose that goes from the turbo to the bov on the intake pipe, that hose has a huge split in it where i couldnt see it, im gonna replace that and im pretty sure that'll solve my problem

its the acuator arm.. would it hurt anything driveing with that disconnected as long as i keep the boost in check untill i could fix it?

No, I wouldn't. I recommend removing the actuator arm from the wastegate lever and drive it like a N/A until you fix the actuator.

well aparently she decided to work again  i had a boost spike from nowhere the other day and thought the motor blew but my ic pipe just blew off, so it must have been loose and i never noticed it.. i swore i tightend that tho.. one thing is though that my boost controler doesnt work right now so i get about 15 psi weither its switched to high or low
