I was wondering how well it is possible to tune with the old knob style AFC? I would like to pick one of this up and couple it with a MAFT. I figure with the two of them I should be able to fine tune it enough. I'm on a budget here and if I can get away with 75 bucks for an oldie over 250+ for a SAFC. That's money I can spend on more goodies. Thanks in advance

With the money you save buying a 5-knob AFC, buy yourself some punctuation.

This has been discussed before.

The 5-knob AFC has less resolution than the newer ones, but it's still pretty good.

However, just using the MAFT will give you a fairly decent tune.

Are you still on stock injectors? If you are, the MAFT will be fine.

relax buddy, cut me some slack im a dropout. how about instead of giving me crap about my grammer you give me some useful info like a link to one of these discussion's. I dont want a "fairly decent tune" I hate things done half-assed. I want it to be as close to perfect as I can get it . yes I am still on stock injectors but I will only get injectors after I have the ability to properly tune them hence my question
"Note:
"Use the Search" is not an acceptable response by itself.
Link to the answer and explain how the info can be found, or just move on and say nothing.
Don't give any technical advice unless you have first-hand experience on the subject." couldn't have said it better myself

Don't try to use the fact that you're a dropout as an excuse! That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard. Besides, unless you dropped out of third grade, then you learned how to use periods sometime in your life.

Note that I didn't tell you to use the search. However, since you seem incapable of doing this work yourself:

If you want a perfect tune, get a standalone. With any injectors that are sized close to stock, a AFC, and a MAFT, you will have a very well running car.

No, it will not be perfect. But, it would not be perfect with one of the new style SAFC's either, just a tad better.

obviously your comprehension levels are dangerously low. I KNOW THE CAPABILITIES OF THE OLD AFC!!! I have used it before on a few of my cars that was not my question, my question is the ability to tune using the maft and the old afc together. which from my searches has not been discussed before so once again I say "Link to the answer and explain how the info can be found, or just move on and say nothing." are we here to talk about english or cars? you decide

Why would you not be able to tune with the MAFT and the AFC? If the AFC works alone, then it would work even better in combination with the MAFT which also can tune to a medium extent.

The old-school AFC is a pretty good tuning tool.

Nope, it either forces your car to be half assed on the street, or half assed on the track. It does not have enough adjustment points either.

It also only has a 20% range meaning your limited in injector size.

but the maft will compensate for the larger injectors and you would be able to fine tune with the afc I am hoping

thats true about the maft, but you think you can fine tune with 5 knobs and no high low throttle positions? You can't. go ahead and get it, its a pice of crap. Wnoder why your car is never as fast as it should be for your mods. Tuning is bar none, the one thing that keeps people from being fast, and yet its where you want to get REALLY cheap. Go ahead, you'll regret it.
