Official Tunerstein Thread!!!!

I have seen a lot of threads and questions about Tunerstein I have searched all over the Internet looking for the files and answers on how to use the software ETC. I want to make a thread where all questions regarding Tunerstein can be asked an talked about. I guess I will start with the question

Does anyone know how to use the Tunerstein Player? I finally got the software installed and working. I just have no idea how to get my information from the palm to the player. When I try to connect using the Palm”N”stein button I get a “Palm access error: -103” anyone have any idea? I have no idea what procedure to use to get the information from the Palm into the player? Do I hotsync? Has anyone gotten the Player to work?

Hopes this thread will be able to help people out.

You need the interface from Multiplex the 003 and then a null modem cable from any store like radio shack, best buy etc. if you are going to use a palm you can use the serial hot sync cable.

I don't know why I can get this to work, but I installed Tunerstein on my laptop, and when I try to start logging, it wont connect. It doesn't matter what COM port I set it to, it just wont work. Running Windows 2000 Pro on the laptop. I finally got the software, now I just need it to work.

Thanks

do you get an error message? IMO the laptop logger honestly sucks. i'd go the palm route!

I'll be all about the Palm instead once I have money for it, but I'm broke right now and have things to fix for my car still, so that's going to have to wait. I can't remember exactly what it says, it's something about no response from the ecu. the wires are hooked up and everything, my ABS light comes on, don't know if that means the wires are hooked up correctly or not, but it does trip the ABS.

I synced palmstein onto my palm and when I try to run it I get a fatal exception error and it resets. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there a fix? I have tried installing software from 3 different places. I also installed os 3.5 or something like that so I dont know why it wouldnt work except if maybe the OS I recieved is bad.

Drew

Do you have a lot of stuff on your palm that you want to keep? I would try resetting your palm and installing the 3.5 OS and then install Tunerstein and see if it works. You might have mucked something up. So if you dont have a lot of stuff you want to keep on your palm try resetting it.

I have also installed the software and keep getting "fatal exception" error when i try to run palm'n stein. I have no idea what is wrong.

I have tried reseting by hitting the reset button in the back and by taking the batteries out overnight. Either way worked for me I am still getting the fatal exception error. What is the correct way to install an OS upgrade on a palm? Maybe I didnt do it right.

Drew

off topic sorta,
but does the palm get power through the cable itself
or from the batteries in the palm pilot
I know when i hook the diagnostic to my car, it get power from the carself so i'm just wondering if its the same

palm gets batt from itself. you cant run it from the car unless you step the voltage down.

Im running a M100

I think you might have to use the Multiplex interface. I think the PalmNstein was made to use the multiplex 003? Tallen might be able to confirm that?

This is insane. I cant transfer my logs from my Palm to the computer because the player wont install correctly. Ive followed the directions but everytime I try to run the player it says it has encountered an error and has to close.

The player is very tricky to install. I hate how you get all the error messages. By any chance do you have the SNJRT30.EXE ? Thats what helped me out. And also all the player files must be in the same DIR!

let me know if you need the SNJRT30.EXE

I got the laptop software to finally work sort of. When I click on interface enabled it works now. I click start and it looks like it starts correctly. The problem now is that after it runs for awhile I get an error, it says "Data logging error, 3999 logged data will be saved." I noticed that under the DRB button, it never starts the progress counter at all. If I save the log files when I get the error, theres nothing at all in them. I know I should use the Palm software, but I still don't have money for a Palm yet. :( Wish there was software for my iPaq.

I can't install the tuner player. I need the file: snj2core.dll. Does anyone have this or any tips to transfer logs to a computer?

thanks

Can someone help me install the tunerstein laptop software. I have followed all the steps, but I just don't understand step #5, where you have to copy a driver. Where do I find this driver/file? Thanks for any help!

the fatal exception error is caused by a bug in the palm n stein program..disable the AIRFLOW and it should work... Hal never fixed it because he never used it
