Are these logs in spec?

I just logged some passes at the track this weekend and wanted to know if i've got everything right. The way I understand it timing should start low and go up through the gear correct? Also a .96 or .98 02 reading is in spec right? One thing i'm not sure of, does a higher 02 reading mean a leaner or richer condition. I think its a rich condition but I am not sure.

Here is the log

Pocketlogger

Higher O2 means richer. I don't know why you're timing spikes so high in 2nd gear and then drops unless you went part throttle after shifting. On my car as soon as I go WOT the timing drops and then increases through the whole pull and peaks at about 18-19 dedrees. Also why are you shifting at such a low RPM though? Even on the T25 you can run 1st gear to redline and 2nd to ~6500 before shifting, and if you have any other turbo you can take it to redline in all gears.

Wow dude u can lean the shit out of that you are way to rich. For a 2g its best around .92 on street gas and about .90 on race gas. What were your egts on this run as well?

I just got my EGT guage today after waiting for 3 WEEKS for dsm-performance to send it. I didn't have it installed when I made that run.

So what do you guys recommend doing. If i install my EGT guage and everything is rich like it seems can i up the boost? or do i need to wait for an afc? Current boost is 17.5.

Maybe up it a pound.... and relog it.

Personally I would wait till I got the AFC.

Every car is different but I think people are beginning to discover that .92 can be too lean on alot of 2gs. There are alot of recent threads about tuning for timing advance rather than O2s and I agree with most of them. If I tune my car for .92 my EGTs skyrocket way over 1600 and my timing drops. If I tune for about 20 degrees timing advance in the top of 3rd, my O2s end up around .96 and my EGTs touch about 1550. This was with both my 16g and my new T3/T4.

so what do you use to tune to timing? An afc? Will simply turning down the boost give me lower knock counts and therefore raise my timing? You can see when I quit in 3rd im a long ways from 20deg...

I have the same logs as you jonny. The O2's seem like they should be a little lower by leaning it out but that would lower the timing which is already on the low side. Am i wrong about this??

So I keep hearing about tuning for timing instead of O2 so I guess thats the best way to go about it....right?
