Sunrise,
Recently found a link to attach a MAP sensor to the S-AFC TPS input. The more I think about it, the better the idea seems. Instead of tuning the car for throttle position, you can tune for LOAD. Set the AFC LOW setting for 0PSi and the HIGH setting for <max boost pressure>. This should make the PITA transition tuning much more reasonable since manifold pressure is a better overall indication of load state than throttle position.
Thoughts?

Whoops!
Sorry about that!

He points out a MAP semiconductor from Motorola that is just under 3-bar. I would likely prefer to use a GM 3-bar, as I plan on going to an AEM EMS when they are released for my 1G. Electromotive has them for cheap, and I am sure procarparts or oem-car-parts.com has them cheaper... :D

OK...I'm suprised that nobody has anything to say about this. It really results in a fairly major mod...moving from throttle position tuning to MAP based load tuning. Oh, well. I guess I'll just post results when I get the motor back in. :D

This sounds like a fantastic idea. I imagine this would give better driveability. I was " " this close to buying a SAFC and now I think I am going to wait. Not because of this thread, but because I think I am going to get the AEM PnP instead. It is more money, but by the time I get my EEPROM flashed by Todd, get a SAFC and figure in the money I could get selling my EEPROM, I am most of the way towards that $1400 for the new ECU. Besides, the AEM will do anything you can dream of.

The MAP sensor output wire gets hooked up where your TPS normally goes on the S-AFC. Therefore instead of your maps being based on the throttle position, it is based on the output of the MAP. I think it is the grey wire on the S-AFC, but DON"T QUOTE ME!

On a side note, AEM's timeframe has continued to slip on the 1G EMS. I have every intention on getting one as SOON as they are out, but I've gotta drive until then (that is assuming I get the car together before the EMS hits!). Either way, I will need a 3-bar MAP sensor, so in the meantime I will use it connected to the SAFC and have it ready to go when the EMS lands on my doorstep. I plan on selling a whole host of stuff when I get the EMS (S-AFC, Pocketlogger, ECU, etc.) but in the meantime am trying to invest in the things I will need post-EMS, like the IAT sensor, 3-Bar MAP, etc.

Sure, but if you follow the link and read the VFAQ we'd all be that much happier.
Rereading that ^^, it sounds like I have some attitude brewing, but I really don't mean it. Honest. I'm just working on 3 hours' sleep in between two 12-hour shifts. The link up top is worth your while, though, and covers it pretty well.
When I get the car together I'm gonna have to come down to MIA for a meeting. Can't wait to show her off...:D
Later...
