I got ahold of a 99 gst black box ecu, we put it in my 98 gst, the car started and ran fine. We then attempted to hack it with tactrix cable and EVOSCAN to adjust it for my injectors and do a good mild tune on my set up so i can rid of my safc2. We have the correct definition but we think we need the rom for it. My buddy has tuned evos the same way with no problems but we cant seem to get into the 99gst blackbox. If anyone has the roms we need or know what were doing wrong i would greatly appreciate it!! We did confirm that this black box is indeed a 1999 eclipse gst. Please help!! we are using ECUFlash as well forgot to ad that part

I would reinstall ecuflash as a administrator and into a folder that is not the default directory (instead of c:/program files/openecu install it into something like c:/openecu/openecu/ecuflash) Also you need to put the two files from ceddymods pack into OpenECU>ECUFlash>rommetadata>mitsubishi>eclipse>.
If you are not aware of this thread I would go through it and read the "installing ceddymods" section he provides a link to download everything you need:
http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/articles-tuning-ecu/407715-how-get-basic-tune-ecuflash.html

Here is the download section for the rom and definitions:
ROMs & EcuFlash Defs « ceddy.us
Right click, "save as"

If you has any more questions let me know I hope I could help. Good luck bud.

thanks for the info man, and pat where are we gonna get this connector from?

Honestly I don't think you even need the connector. We have a member on here I'm going to look for the post but he just took the flash wire coming from the other port of the plug that goes into the OBDII port, spliced it open and ran the wire to pin #79 on the ecu, no need for the plug it's only one wire. Here is the pin layout:
http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/articles-tuning-ecu/281763-2g-turbo-ecu-pinout-w-wire-colors.html

And here a member that did the manual wiring sucessfully:

Sorry if you don't understand the way I wrote it I'm pretty tired long day. But if you look at the first picture in the second link down in this post you will see a bare wire to the right of the picture, that goes directly to pin #79 of your ECU.

yes you are close, you are just missing a few important factors:

1) Yes EvoScan will datalog this vehicle, just choose Mitsubishi MUTIII and EFI in evoscan dropdown.
2) you must use an openport 2.0 cable for 1999 Mitsubishi reflashing.
3) EvoScan will reflash evo7/8/9 only. you must use ecuflash for this vehicle reflashing.
4) Connect the reflash connector wire (as above post) to pin 79 on the ecu. so that the boot init wire can apply 16volts to the ecu for eeprom reprogramming

Im having problems with evoscan/ecuflash as well. I connected the wire to pin 79 and it worked fine and I was able to flash the ecu but I wasnt able to log the injector% and I was told that was because I was using the newest version of evoscan, so I went to an earlier version and now I get nothing. It just says that there is less than 5v detected. Ive tried everything so now Im back to my eprom with a keydiver chip.

You're suppose to log injector duty cycle and the other injector THINGY together... sorry I'm not on my laptop.:D:aha:

edit;
Injector % and injector pulse width
