Bolling AFB,
I was just wondering what everyone's EGT temp, say highway speed is. Mine is like at 1200F to 1400F. Wondering if this seems a lil high, or normal. When I slow down to say a stopsign or light it goes down to 9500F or 1000F fairly quick.

When you say highway speed what MPH are you talking about.

lets just say 70-75 regular HW speed? i dont think that is high, once you hit 1600-1700 you should pull over, i read somewhere that 1350 is regular, 1600 is what you should be at when you hit the finish line at a 1/4

SD GST: How about when you drive through hill?? i.e. like when you climb uphil on grapevine, etc???

I haven't gone up the grapevine with the EGT yet. But on smaller climbs, it goes up to about 1500

The reason why i asked is because my EGT reads pretty high on the highway i take often... it is kind of like grapevine but a shorter version of it... it sucks coz i have to drive slowly when my EGT raises up... :(

EGT while cruising along is meaningless. Changing your exhaust, turbo/turbine housing, valve timing, CAS position, etc all change cruise EGTs, making them impossible to compare with anyone elses ;)

Generally the bigger my turbine housing gets the lower EGTs go, same for bigger exhaust, and more base timing.

Might be a useless question however, does everyone have egt probe in the exhaust mani? I personally dont, I have the autometer gauge and it didn't look like the prob would be able to fit in the runner so mine is in the O2 housing. I run about 1300F at 70mph. I figure about 200 difference, anything over 1400 and I'd be pulling off the road.

If it's moving quick man most likely you running too rich or lean . Watch your rpm to see where it's rising quickly. Try riching it up some of it's worst you are too rich lean it out.

I tried doing that... i.e. riching things up when i'm at about 15-20% throttle, then i'd suffer the normal city driving... then if i fix it for the city driving, i suffer or need to fix it again on the freeway...

what type of fuel controller you have.. did you try leaning it out some from the first setting?

i have the new type SAFC (i have SAFC II)... my low throttle setting is at about 2-4 % from 1000 rpm to 4000 rpm... i haven't tuned for higher rpm's yet, due to lack of chance for dyno...

tha's your problem you need to do your high setting. either your high setting need fuel or less fuel.. got to www.roadraceengineering.com/ and read up on the safc and hey have some setting you may can use to help work out your problem. tune watch egt tune watch egt.. do that' if you can't get to a dyno.

I know your problem, I'm tryin to tune my crazy setup...

coo... i'll try to do this when i get a chance... i think my problem is about my throttle positions and stuff... i should be able to make it work soon... or hopefully... :) thanks!!!
