AEM EMS Install question.

Just a few quick questions before i install my aem.

alright.. im running a aem 3.5bar map, and iat. I also need to supply the ecu with a signal from my lm1 wb02, and use an output to trigger my meth setup.

it seems all straight forward just some easy questions.

I need to know where to wire in the signal from the wb02, the map sensor, as well as the iat, when i read though the instructions it gives pinouts, and descriptions of what each pin does.

Now... To trigger the meth kit, i will just use one of the output ground signals to turn on a relay, then activate the system.

For the inputs heres what i found and think where im supposed to wire them.

Map sensor - Pin #12 Stock function 'Ignition Timing Adjustment' AEM function 'MAP' Availability 'Avail, Map sensor input for speed density'.

AIT - Pin #8 Stock function 'AIT' AEM function 'AIT' PnP For Intake Air Temp.

Then for the wb02 input it comes a bit sticky? Heres what ive found.

wb02 - Pin #4 Stock function '02 sensor' AEM function 'Lambda #1' Description 'PnP for Lambda #1'.

or.. Pin #66 Stock function 'MFI ON' AEM function 'Lambda #2' Description 'Avail, Lambda Input'

Now.. Here is the descriptions it gives for Avail, PnP, Dedicated.

PnP - The plug and play system comes with this configured for proper operation of this device, it is still available for reassignment by the end user

Avail - This function is not currently allocated and is avail for use.

Dedicated - The location is fixed and cant be changed.

So im guessing for the 02 pin #4 is used for stock sensor, and i can just tap into the signal going to my Display for my LM1 and send it to pin 66 of the ECU? Since one is avail and one is already PnP, same as map just send signal to pin 12.

But.. For the IAT input it says that its a 'PnP' which means its already used? But i wasn't aware our cars used IAT with a MAF, Hmm... Any idea's?

Seems to be a easy setup to install, please note i WILL NOT BE TUNING.

So if someone could set me on the right track it would be great, since im sure these are probably easy questions for someone who has installed AEM EMS before.

Thanks everyone, hope im on the right track

This is on the 90 Tsi, PN #30-1300.

To answer this for the archives, since we should always post the solution for future searchers The stock MAS has an IAT sensor built in, that is what the AEM manual is refering to. O2 #1 or #2 can be used, they are both just as easy to display. O2 feedback can be run of either one, but note that automapping/logging can only be done from O2 #1!

On the AEM insrtuctions says:
PIN # 8 is for AIT/air intake temp./
When you unplug the harness from the ECU there are three plugs. The biggest one contains pin #8.
If you look at all 3 plugs, they have one flat side and another side which is not flat, is shaped like the letter U. You are going to look for this side counting from left to right. Don't confuse it with pin #20 which is on the flat side and opposite to pin #8.
So basically on the largest of all 3 plugs you have on ECU, on the side that is not flat/this side should be UP and the FLAT side should be DOWN/ counting from left to right to a pin #8, then I guess just solder the wire.
If you send me an e-mail address I could try and e-mail you back all the instructions I have.

I have the directions i know where pin 8 is on the ecu side i want to know where pin 8 is on the engine side wiring harness so i can tap in there and do not have to run more wires though the firewall.

I don't know where the pin #8 is on the engine side. All connections are soldered and insulated, so I didn't want to pull out wires to see exactly which one it is.

Just connect before the plug and run thru firewall.

ECU pin 8 goes to MAF plug pin 8 (lower right corner), green with an orange stripe. If you also need the MAP sensor wire, pin 12 at the ECU, it's the timing adjustment pin at connector A52 which appears to be under the passenger side underhood fuse block. Wire appears to be yellow with a black stripe. My 1g has a custom wiring harness, so I'm just going by the manual here. It's all in TFM.
