Can someone give me some advise based on my latest datalog on what
to do with my AFC setting? Boost set at 1.45 bar and EGT's hit 850c
with 720cc injectors. I have a 2G GST with 20G and supporting mods,
stock bottom end no cams. Sorry for posting this. Im not sure if I can go leaner. I tried richen things up but Id get good timing and very cool EGT temps of 790c. If I go too lean, timing gets pulled down.

your timing is confusing the hell out of me.. i thought it was supposed to be a continous rise.. from whe you shift up through the rpms till you shift again.. your timing looks low to me actually, i was told it should dip below 10 and yers does in a couple spots

when looking at it, the first gear run is too short to see the timing rise. 2nd gear, i go through too fast, and third would be the best to look at. Basing it on 02 readings, does it still look rich? If I richen up, id be running egts of 800c but timing would increase and id lose power. what do you think is more important. Leaner and more power or richer and more timing?
 
according to your o2 readings your rich as sin BUT and I should bold that BUT.. ive read over and over and over again nott o base your logs on the o2 values becuase their bogus.. so I wouldnt put to much faith in yer o2 readings.. id watch your timing and EGTs
 
Ive thought of something else. I notice my SAVCR isnt really hitting the boost level I set it to. So im definately gonna leave afc at the setting I have now and try to tune the avcr instead and get it to stay at 1.45. Maybe ill get more power with the EGTs and timing Im trying to get. Thanks for the info larry.
 
I will agree with larry. I like to see my 02 values around the .88-.89 range, BUT you definitely need to watch your egts. If you start getting high egts, then you need to richen up a bit. I make my adjustments in 2% increments. Just remember, every car responds differently, so make your adjustments slowly and cautiously. Hope this helps, email if you have any questions.

I;m going to lean out 6k and 7k a couple %'s and see what happens to the EGT's

Try leaning it out. Your timing is very low, especially since you have 720s. It is probably knocking from being too rich. Yes you get knock from running too rich.

Stupid question maybe... if you tune your car at 12psi, will the S-AFC settings be drastically different at 15-17-19 psi and so on? The reason I am asking is that I plan on running HI/LOW settings of 19/14 or something.
 
If the settings will be off, how do you use a dual stage boost controller electronic or manual? If you tune it for one setting it will be off on the other and vise-versa.
 
You don't. I don't know of any fuel computer that will do that. MAybe and EFI PMS would be a good option for you. It has rpm selectable boost and fuel maps for on boost and off boost, according to rpm. It sounds complicated, but it is not.
 
I think with a DSMlink you can save different fuel and timing curves for different boost pressures, octane ratings, and so on, and recall to whatever you're running at the time. I don't own one, so don't quote me on this.
