Iridium plug ground electrode erosion

These NGK iridiums [BKR7EIX] are supposed to have a long life, but after 5K miles, the ground electrode has about a .030" deep crater across from where the spark jumps from the iridium center electrode. The engine runs fine, the gap is .026", and the plug color looks good. I have a MSD DIS 2. Has anyone seen this type if erosion in in iridiums??

Spark Plug FAQ

The most recommended spark plugs are the BPR6ES

I've heard that, same as the platinum plugs, the cost of the material requires that the ground electrode be much smaller. They don't stand up to the high loads in a turbo engine as well.

Oh yeah, serch feature
