Hi I was just wondering if anyone had any news on DSMLink Version 3? Specifically, the release date or even an approximate release date. Thanks, Tom.

There's no new info, and there's already a thread on this subject.

I'm sure somebody will start a new thread as soon as the information is released, we just have to be patient.

I sent an email to ECM, hopefully they'll help us out. The reason I'm asking is cause I'm about to do a bunch of upgrades (motor, turbo, exhaust, etc) and I'd like to get DSMlink but I don't want to buy v2 and have v3 come out 6 months later. Sigh, should I just get the AEM standalone instead? Tom.

You will be able to simply pay a fee and upgrade form v2 to v3 much like you could going from v1 to v2. I believe it was only 50 bux to go to v2 but no price has been stated about upgrading from v2-v3 yet.

Don't hold your breath for v3 any time soon. I know they're hard at work on it but it's not close to being released yet. You'll be better off getting what's out now and then upgrading later.

v3 is looking really nice though. Over at the dsmlink forums they released some screen shots of it and expected features and it's definitely looking great. They emphasized the point though that it probably won't be ready any time soon.

Yes, it's true... It's still going to be a while before V3 is ready for release. For one, the new cables are going to take several months to produce. The process has been started (designed, tested, prototyped, etc.), but even without that delay, we don't have the application software done yet either. A lot is done, but there's still that little issue of datalogging that hasn't been added in yet, for example...

And once the application software is done, we need to start extensive testing on the EPROM changes. GM MAF support, for example, on all these wild and varied setups scares me. We need to get the code into a number of different cars and let them all drive around and race for several weeks bug free before we can declare just that small part ready. The same would go for speed density support which, honestly, we haven't even started on with our own cars yet.

We expect to define some minimal set of new features to include at first just so we can get the thing out the door. After that, upgrades will be free for some period of time or until some more complete set of features is done. That way users can get started with the new version (which will still have a lot of cool new stuff) knowing what's coming down the road. That should let us get out a good bit sooner while still providing the feature set that's been requested.

Even so, I'm afraid it's still going to be a while. As for an estimate, please don't ask. I was saying summer '06, then winter and now I don't even try to guess any more. It's just not worth it. When we're within, say, a couple months of release, we'll start telling people. Because at that point, it should be pretty obvious to us. Right now, we're not there.

Thanks for the reply Thomas. I think I might get V2 in the mean time and upgrade later. I just hope it wont cost me an arm and leg to upgrade. Cheers, Tom.

Thomas thank you for the reply :rocks: I've been meaning to email ecmtuning for quite some time, but i figured a)you are probably sick of being asked about release date b)i'm in no hurry (no license until May8, 2008  ) I for one am really looking forward to dsmlink v3 and will definitely purchase upon release. I appreciate that you guys take the time to make sure the product is accurate and bug/glitch free at all cost upon release.

There are a few things i was wondering...can you give us an idea if a small upgrade fee can upgrade from v2 to v3 (such as the transfer from v1 to v2)? also, can anyone post preview pics of v3 that were apparently posted on the dsmlink forums?
