ok i did a search back a month ago and i found a thread with links to some sites with how to tune after you log your numbers and all.... now i did a search and can't seem to find it... can someone direct me to the site please.... i want to log my numbers for timing. o2 and rpm but its been raining here for 6 days straight and i cant get a nice dry day yet... so hopefully in the next 2 or 3 days i will make a run... but wanted to read up more on how to tune with a safc2 and a logger....

p.s. when i make my log run should i put my boost at the level i want my car to perform its best? or should i leave it at 16 and tune it? how will i know its ok to boost it up? i heard my stock side mount can take 19 no more then that... thanks in advance.

This is the best SAFC tuning guide I have ever seen.....Make sure you read it 2 or 3 times. :thumb:

I would start tuning around 16psi. Get yourself a good, solid base and then start turning up the boost. When you do that you will want to verify that you aren't knocking and that you are indeed increasing airflow.

I started my tune at 16psi and had it to the point of no knock. I then turned up the boost and found, by logging airflow, that I received virtually no increase in airflow. Remembering that airflow = power and psi (pressure) = heat I knew that I needed to turn the boost back down.

At that point I knew I needed to find my airflow restriction. After removing one of the 2 huge restrictions I have (UICP and stock cat back), I turned the boost back up and have been running 20psi on the stock SMIC with no knock at all. It's not like you are going to blow up the SMIC by going past 19psi. Although, if you are on the stock head studs and HG, you may start to lift the head. That normally doesn't start until around 23+psi, but every car is different.

Run a log with timing, rpm, O2 and airflow at 16psi. Post it up and we'll get you a good tune going at that psi. Then we can add a little fuel, turn up the boost and see what happens to the airflow.

Wow, I got a little carried away there.....Hope something was useful.

that was very helpful information... i appreciate it.. thanks again... now let the rain stop LOL
