i own a 91 talon tsi awd and a couple of months ago i was driving to work when i heard a popping noise. i thought i blew the timing belt but after i took the engine out for my college class, i found out that i had lost oil pressure to the lifters on the intake side of the engine. has anyone had a problem like this before or knows what happened??

i found out what the problem was. the person who owned the car before me did not tell me that he ran synthetic oil in the car, well i found out the hard way. i did an oil change and used regular 5-30 oil and now i have a fried timing belt, bent valves, knocked up pistons and a bad oil pump. what a number!!!

Doubt it's the oil switch that did all that.
may be in the long run, but not after a single change.

most likely your B-shaft failed and took out the oil pump.

now that you mention it. it was probably the combonation of both, before this happened i was dumping oil out of the car constantly until i found out that the nipple on the inside of the pump was loose and then i tightened it and it held up pretty good. oh well, now i get to start over with fresh parts.
