Yes you can run those times with a AFC. Hell my friend Josh ran 12.2 with no fuel control at all. What it boils down to is how much control do you want? If getting close by guessing is how you want to tune then an AFC and logger will work fine for you. If you want to be dead on then DSMlnk may be the way to go. DSMlink also provides a lot of other features that you can't get somewhere else.

The SAFC can get you there but once you get there are you going to want to go faster? You might be better off going with the DSMlink if you have the extra money incase your goals change.

DsmLink is very easy to use in my opinion, the main thing you need to consider is that you WILL need to control timing once you reach a certain power level. At least to make the car run at it's best.

And whoever told you that is smoking crack or "heard from a friend" that it was the case. DSMlink is extremely user friendly and so easy to understand. That coupled with the amount of good information to be found on the link forums is almost worth the price of admission.

DSMlink is MUCH easier to tune than an Safc. Safc runs around 250 dollars, a logger will run you 175 + 50 dollars for a palm, suddenly you are up to 475 dollars total, where as DSMlink costs only 600 dollars and gives you features that are leaps and bounds greater than an Safc/pocketlogger. Dont kid yourself into thinking an Safc is just as good as dsmlink, as it is so pathetically barbaric in comparison. Do your research with DSMlink, and if you want my honest opinion go with DSMlink as it will be the best mod you have ever performed. Hell, if you have an EGT gauge, sell that off too and make back the rest of the net difference between DSMlink and the Safc/logger combo, as you wont need it whatsoever once you have the direct knock readings that DSMlink provides.

Dont for get the 95 eprom for $200+ and a laptop if you dont already have one. Its not as easy as $475 vs $600. I just ordered my dsmlink and they had a price drop, $570 shipped w/o socketing service.

This is true but when you use 1G's for comparison DSMlink is even better looking. It is slightly cheaper on 1G's and I've heard they get more features. Someone correct me if im wrong but all 1G's except for 90's have an eprom. Then get a used basic laptop off of ebay for like 100 bucks. So then it would be about 475 vs. 650 and DSMlink rivals stand alones in tunability but is very easy to tune.

Only problem is not all 1g's are eproms, so for the most part there is another $200 to add on to the bill. Anyway you look at it, a dsmlink setup is better but it isnt going to be cheap, and for some people the safc is enough.

Just do some research in general on the dsmlink and see how much people love it.
Dsmlink was the BEST mod I ever did to my car... Dont even bother with an SAFC
