good standalone fuel systems?

i mean ones that hook to laptops

does pectel make a system for our car? or haltech?

and would they allow you to change engine settings from the laptop or would they just read it to you like palm dataloggers do?

Another one not listed there and it works pretty good with DSM's is autronic. Some local tuners say that it's the best unit in the market right now.

We used the Electromotive TEC-2 w/ lots of success on Polk's green FWD. The TEC-3 is out now and is even more user friendly than the TEC-2. They have the best ignition system on the market, bar none. And w/ the startup wizzard and autotune features you couldn't have an easier way to tune. It is a bit more than the AEM, but it comes w/ it's own ignition system, so I'd say they're very even in price.

Electromotive has top notch tech support too. I can't say enough about that. No, they weren't our sponsor or anything. They just have a great product that we were extremely happy with. Might be worth looking into if you're serious.

AEM EMS its the DSM gods gift to our cars. does so much and replaces so much more than half of your AEM EMS is paid for if you sell everything it replaces.

Hey man, I have been trying to buy a TEC3 for about a week now. I have sold my Haltech and need this to get running again. I have called every dealer that I could find and no one has a price or even a clue about the system. Do you suggest where I might be able to buy this. Any idea on how much it will cost (hurt) me? Thanks

Steve

Polk Performance is who I'm associated with. We've done TEC-2's and TEC-3's. PolkPerformance.com

Shiv has been dealing w/ TEC's for a long time. Not sure about EIC, but if they're running Electromotive, then they are alright in my book. You'll see what I mean when you get yours.

Just a note letting you guys know that I've added more stand alone units (mentioned above) to the Parts Guide.

I just purchased the AEM EMS for my 1g. And I have to say this thing kick's ass. I have been messing around with it on my PC at home right now as much as I can to try and get familar with the software as much as I can before I put my car back together. I think the AEM is a really great option to go with for anyone going full standalone. The price is reasonable, the tech support is by far the best I have seen for a standalone system with there own forum just on the EMS it self so you can go on talk to the engineers and ask any type of ?'s and get pretty quick responses back. I was running the piggyback setup VPC,AFC and it is a great combo, but I felt with the new setup I just want to tune this thing and squeez every last ounce of HP and TQ out of this thing. I post later on when I get the car up and running and do a little review of my own on the AEM and maybe this will help some people decide which one to go for. Later

Haltech

I run a haltech EK6 I like it. What I do not like is the DOS setup for it. Now they have come out with the Haltech EK11 which is a windows version of it. It does everthing but control retard timing with knock. This is not a bad thing but it is something nice to have. The AEM does however have knock retard. I just fair warn everone if you have to have some on install and tune you AFC, VPC, AFR, XXX, DDD, or what ever then you do not need a standalone system in your car. You will blow it up!
