Everyone seems to use the S-AFC and not the S-AFR. Any reasons as to why the Apex unit is more popular? Does the HKS version not have as many features, or is it simply newer and not as many people have tried it? Anyone used both to share their experiences?

I personally like the compact design of the S-AFR and would go for it if I knew that it was just as useful as the S-AFC.

luda just by one and do a review on it.. Then we will all know how good it is.

After checking out the MachV site and reading up on it over at DSMTalk.com, i would say it is HKS's attempt at an AFC/VPC combination almost.

It has 11 adjustable rpm points (3 more than the AFC), but no LO/HI feature like the new AFC.

There is no fancy LED screen like the AFC has. Just a numerical display, making it a little more compact.

It has a response and idle feature, almost like the VPC. You can adjust response for, well, response when you hit the throttle. You can adjust the idle seperate from the rpm points, like the VPC.

You can adjust fuel by 50% either way, just like the AFC.

Has an idle-stabalizer which HKS claims will allow you to vent the BOV to atmosphere.

it doesn't read any settings like the AFC (Hz, Pressure, etc) and has no logging/graph/gauge/peak feature like the AFC.

Overall, it seems comparable, but lacking, when compared to the AFC. The AFC is more of a complete package in my opinion. It is tried and true, tested and works great, not to mention is $20-40 cheaper from the prices I have seen.

I think the AFR is a step in the right direction for HKS though. It is compact, has some nice features the very expensive VPC comes with and integrates them with SOME of the AFC features. if it had HI/LO setting adjustment, read and logged Hz, Pressure, etc etc like the AFC, I'd say it would be a steal. As is, I would stick with the AFC.
