Ontario Bust

So I've been aware of street racing in Ontario for about 12 years now and I'm sure it was going on before that. I used to go watch in the mid 90's with high school friends back when I drove a beat up station wagon and had some good times but it for sure wasn't the safest thing to do.

I just think that the obvious popularity of street racing in the area would make it obvious to the powers that be that California Speedway could use more than one street legal day every 2 or 3 months. There might even be a profit to be made if they installed lights on the track and ran their own late night races. There are no neighbors there to complain about noise like Pomona has. But I guess it just makes to much sense to turn a profit and to provide a safe and legal place for people to race all at the same time.

sucks to be in that crowd. i remember the first time i was out there when i was 13 or 14, and was fun at the time, but having a speed contest ticket is not worth all that hassle, plus ending up crashing which i saw numerous cars face was a pretty bad tradeoff at the end

well shit build a track for the kids. but bottom line its all about money for the state. 79 cars at 400$ bucks for impound =31,600$ just impounds. cops and politics are the most corruped ppl out there.:notgood:

Thats unfortunate for the people their! isn't there a track that people can race on around that area.?!? Its better and more safe! Plus you get a time slip!

There is a track about 15 miles from there at California Speedway. The last street legal day was in July and the next is in November. They don't realy try to meet the demand. Three whole months with no where to race and the kids get antsy.

here here to Wes running for the Board of Directors at the California Speedway. Push for the cause. But to take the devils side for a bit, i see the problem of getting an organization, insurance, and resources; then the funds. But hey if theres a way where do i sign?

The State makes nothing from enforcement. Fines go to the county and city governments. The CHP funds come from registration fees.

400 per car is really low. Cars are impounded for a minimum of 30 days i know that for a fact. And last i heard from friends fines are over 1k. Ontario is retarded. I used to go all the time till i found other places to meet up. Why watch 16 second 1/4 mile hondas.

yea heard that. i wonder if they go over the cars looking for mods. thats one of the reason i stuck with a 18 g and not going to a big down facing turbo.

I agree. $400 is cheap for impound fee. I had to pay $1200 to get my old eclipse out but then again there was a 30 day hold.

I don't think the spectators cars got impounded for 30 days. Only the cars actually involved in the race. The spectators cars were only impounded because there was no one to drive them home. There was no moving violation involved.

I DON'T STREET RACE . so don't confuse me with some lil boy dsmers-honda that begged there mommy to buy them a car to go street racing.. also you get caught racing yea your braking the law, but 'watching". come on,is that realy that bad.

A spectator at a street race would be liable to aiding and abetting violations, and would be considered a "participant" even if not driving.
oh so there like pumpin up ppl to race....i kinda get that. its like per-pressure to go at it,

Besides the opinion that going in a straight line takes NO skill... Have to take it to the track mane... Autocross or similar to stretch your legs and skill out...:thumb:
