I am looking for some others in the Lompoc Area that may want to get together this weekend on sunday and meet up. Also, I am looking for a local mechanic that may be interested in helping me out with my Eclipse. Anyone interested in meeting some new people and talking about DSMs, drop me a PM...

hey Bigglesworth... Man, I havent been on this site in a little while. How have you been bro? You have anything going on this weekend?

Nada, Im just chilling. What have you been up to? I met a few other tuners in the neighborhood but we dont really get together.

Just chillin.. I was about to get rid of my car... but I think ill give her a chance and get her running again..

I need to get it regisitered... smogged.. needs spark plugs, valve cover gasket.. and I beleive a new starter.. but thats why im looking for a mechanic or just someone with a little know how... I would like to replace all this stuff personnally with someone that knows what they are doing...

Eh, starter isn't too tough one you've done one or two. Pain in the ass, but not too tough. Why do you think yours needs replacing?

i think its the starter because when i turn the iginition there isnt even a clicking noise like the starter is trying to turn over. I bought a new battery so i dont think its the battery. Is there anything else that it could be.

And i dont want a mechanic for just these things. I also need to put the power steering belt on and I know of one other person that needs some work done to his car.

Double-check the cables and grounds to the starter. It really should at least click, if the solenoid is okay. Also, did you make sure that your battery cables were clean before putting in the new battery? Remember, the starter is VERY high amperage draw, compared to the stereo or interior lights.

Can you bump-start the car? Need to narrow it down. If it'll bump start and run, we'll see.

Belts aren't a big deal except for the timing belt. And if it does end up being a problem that needs a mechanic, convinced Harvey over at Precision Motorsport to start giving friend-rates to DSM owners, so I don't have to keep telling him that I'm sending someone over. :)

Know of anywhere around here where i can get an engine stand or whatever that thing is that holds the engine? I am going to try and pull my engine here in the next couple days but I need to find one. I dont even really know what its called... any help?

It'd be an engine stand. Still confused as to why you're pulling the engine for a starter, unless you got that fixed.

Kragen sells engine stands/hoists for about a hundred bucks a pop, and I think AutoZone has them on their tool loan/rental list. Might check there.
