OK i have run into a major jam. i bout a 4g63t vra from flashoptions.com and gavin the owner said it would fit into my RS N/T 2g eclipse and i believed him and spent $1200 on the engine, $300 for S/h and then additional fees to get it delivered an extra $500+ . i blew my old motor back in june of 03' so i have a chassis and an engine but ive been told by many mechanincs the engine wont fit inside the car. so i have 2 options now

1) sell all the parts from both cars and go buy a 2g gsx


2) keep the car sell the engine and turbo from the vr4 and rebuild my 2g RS

i am wanting to do #1 for sure so now i am looking for a 2g gsx so if anyone is selling one please let me know and if anyone wants any parts from the vr4 let me know i am willing to sell everything from it

That may not necessarily be true, I know the Evo 4g63 will fit into a 2G RS, but I'm not sure about the VR4 engine.

The main reason being the RS uses the Chrysler 420A engine and it is 180 degrees out of whack with the Eclipse 4g63 engine. And the Evo 4g63 is orientated the same way as the 420A, but I can't speak for the VR4. Maybe one of the Wisemen could weigh in on this one. (GTM maybe???)

Another option you could consider is to sell the 4g63 and get the SRT-4 engine. It is built off of the 420A and already comes with a turbo (The T04 from what I hear).

I think the VR-4 4G63 is similar to the DSM 4G63's of that time... (the 1G DSM). I ont know if it will fit, but i know that when you do have an engine that fits, you also need to swap the transaxle, because the 420A has a different setup. So make sure you get a 4G63 transaxle as well.

Well i have been told since the vr-4 is an awd car that it would be impossible i would have to change out the tranny and do other modifications to the engine and engine bay of the car and i have been told by a few people know ( all DSM mechanics ) that it would be a bi*** to put the engine and do all the work and they have all told me that it would take more money then i need to spend on it and i should junk it and go get me a gsx or gst and sell the front clip so now i have a full vr-4 clip for sale $2000 but i will only sell to people here in the US
 
You haev indeed been royally screwed over man, sorry to hear that. Although nothing is impossible, it is not sensible to try to install any engine in there other than a 420A. The firewall and crossmember are very different. You can't put in an evo engine without a fortune in cash either, regardless of orientatio, it was not meant to fit therefore MUCHO custom fabrication and wiring must be done. Everything from blinkers to brake lights is wired into the 2gnt ecu so it would be rediculous to have to redo it all. The SRT4 engine was built on a 420A platform but not even close in design and function, no joy on that one either. The head faced the same way but the intake is in the front and manifold/turbo in the back, it would have no clearance in a car designed to work the opposite way. You best bet is to try and sell the one and go with the other, your choice of which but the two aren't going to come together for anything less than a lot of money.
