Which is better?
The apexi is a little bit more expensive. 950 vs 901 and both kits include the lower pipes. has anyone had expeience with both?

ok

The pic you just posted is of the Greddy. You just proved it was a side to side intercooler. It has the endtanks on each side.

A top to bottom intercooler would have the endtanks on the top and bottom.

I like the way the the pipes on the greddy runs on the same side. because I dont want to have to take my turbo off and weld the outlet the other way, and I have an O2 eliminator and would have to get that off to take off the turbo.

i've heard problems with the big greddy front mount because it like blocks the radiator off or something...overheating? but i dunno i just like apex over greddy anywway.....

there is a massive thread on here about that, i have greddy and i love it, never have any problems with it either....

I got my APEX'i FMIC kit w/piping for $750 shipped a while back off the trader. It never heatsoaks even under the worst conditions and constant boosting. Also it has great flow through for the radiator. I'm happy with my purchase.

Oh, and here's a pic of my FMIC Sorry for the smoke, my bud who took the pic had just lit up his cig:

good idea, so the pipe for the spearco core both run on the right side, sorta like the greddy? I want some info on that cold air intake thing. how big did you cut out the buttom of the filter, how big is the pipe, how is it holding in place. A pic would help if you have one. thanks

It's a 3" peice of PVC that is shaped like a boot. Air is channeled up the curved part to the intake and then the water is allowed to drip down to a whole in the "heel". The intake filter is not in that hole. It's just to channel cold air to the intake so that the engine can have denser air. There are 2 galvenized L brackets holding it in place through a 3" hole i cut out under the intake. I'm planning on painting it black soon to make it more sleeper though.

Yes the IC is made like a greddy, but the piping goes over the top of it rather than in front of it to increase airflow. It has a reducing 180* bend in the outflow endtank to help eliminate pressure drop (2.5 -> 2.25) then it flows into the greddy piping kit back to my stock UICP location. There really is no more lag than anyone else has been reporting with the Big28 killer, so i'm happy! It looks like this:

I owned a Greddy, sold it. Installed several of both for others.

Greddy IC lower pipe is only 2", upper pipes are 2.25".
Apxei uses larger than 2.25" pipe, I don't think it's a full 2.5", but a metric size in the middle somewhere.

Apexi core is most definitely more durable than the Greddy.

Both are side to side and use miles of piping.
Both require a lot of cutting of the bumper.

Greddy build quality isn't so hot, mine had a hole in the welds, and I have heard of others with the same problem.

Hint: RRE's griffen IC kit lower pipe is 2.25" and replaces the lower greddy pipe easily.

do some research before you buy the greddy....I used to want to get one but i see now it's nowhere even close to the best you can get.

and what are you talking about welding your outlet the other way????

thats what i'm doing.
an i was talkin about the turbo, I mean like it faces the right towards the stock I/C, an most side to side I/C have the inlet on the left. i dont to have a 180 degree bent in the piping.

does any one know which intercooler will fill out the bomex kit with the lights? it has a big azz ic in ther

I have friends with both a big Greddy and A'pexi intercoolers. My friend with the Greddy has a mysterious over-heating problem and my friend with the A'pexi runs 11s with no problem. You do the math!
