Princeton,
I'm trying to decide which cams to put on my car. I'm running a Green, 660's, S-AFC... the car is my daily driver and i'm trying to figure out which cams would be best for my car. Basically the best setup for the street. Anyone with suggestions, let me know
thanks

I have the HKS 264/264 on my 1G. very nice, very streetable. I have hear dgood thins about going 272 exhaust though and if I had to do it again, I would probably do that or a little more umph.

Ya my 272 exhasut cam doesn't really make that much of an idle difference but does make a top-end difference.

Hell yes massive pull above 4.5k to redline

Webcams suck for street use -- how do I know? Check out my mods.

Stalling sux... kinda embaressing when your on a date and you have to heal-toe to stop.

Then again, this is also made worse by a FPR overrun issue.

Just as good as HKS my ass. Guess that's why all webcams are ground horribly off index then?
Every car that I have seen switch from webcams to HKS cams has run faster.

I also recomend the 264/272 combo.

I think the web street grind makes pretty good power but they idle really poor. I have swapped web streets back to back on a customers car with hks 272/272s and have to say the webs were a bit stronger right around the 3500-5500rpm range but after that the hks's pulled noticeably stronger. Plus, the hks's idled much much better. So better idle and better power.. its worth the extra money imho.

Another customer has the hks 264/272 combo on his 2G... these pull real strong up top too. They idle almost like stock... they have a bit more rasp at idle but otherwise you would hardly even know it had cams. So for daily street use this would be my #1 choice.

Wes did your car actually run slower with HKS cams or did it just not feel the same?
All I have to go off is timeslips, I've never seen anyone dyno their car with both cams.

No... it went quicker with the hks's. Power delivery is very subjective. The webs to me felt real strong 3500-5500 after that the power seemed to quickly taper off. The Hks's on the other hand had a very linear and progressive feel. The car would just keep pulling harder the higher you revved it. It lost the "kick in the butt" feel at 5000 that the webs gave. In fact when I gave the car back to the owner he commented that it felt slower to him then before. I told him his ass dyno just isnt calibrated correctly and to take itr to the track and see. He did and dropped 3 tenths off his previous best and gained a few MPH. Its hard to explain but sometimes the cars that feel slower are actually quicker.

If you actually had some experience you would realize how dumb your comment was. HKS makes more power with a better idle how can you beat that?

HKS cams OWNZ :dsm:

I have just ordered HKS 264/272 cams. my buddy just installed 272/272 hks cams and they are great. he had web cams before the hks cmas. The web cams were week.

Unless you have a seriously ported head, 264s are all you need. Going 264/272 on a stock 2G head will likely give you no more HP, and worse idle quality. The 1Gs head can probly get away with 264/272 combo. But going full 272, I think, is useless, unless the head is completely hogged out.

Agreed. At least go with an angled valve job before going with the 272 cam. You really won't get anything out of having that cam over the 264 with the stock head. It has to be able to flow the extra exhaust out in order to see any benifits.

I really liked my Crowe 64413 in my street car. Very nice idle and mid and upper RPM torque was great compared to a stock cam.

I went to a 64414 cam as my car became less of a street car and really liked the top end power of the cam. They did sacrifice mid range IMO. Upper end was strong, idle was fair.

I tried the 272's to see what the hype was about. They turned out to idle as well as my 64413 cams, which was a big surprise to me. I did pick up 1 mph in the 1/4 with the 272's over the 64414. ( 125 vs. 126 )

They ran the same on the nitrous.

Both cams would be a good choice IMO.

well hks 264/264 lose you any powere from idle to say 4 grand? or are they a win win situation

I have crower stage 2 cams (44113). My low end is actually stronger then with stock cams. Car has a lot more torque close to 4000rpm. It pulls much harder past 6000rpm then before. It idles smoothly between 720-250rpm. It feels almost like stock idle. It reads -11in/Hg of vacumm. They gained me 2.5mph and keep my EGTs much cooler. I have stock head and intake manifold and haven't ported anything. Here's a vid of my idle. It sounds deeper and rougher but it purrs almost as good as stock from inside of the car.
