Has anyone tried changing the bulb color in the Phantom II Gauges? I was hoping to get some of the 1 series but they are just the sidelight. Has anyone tried a diffrent color bulb in these? Is it even possible? Post some pics if you have them please. Thanks

I have the Phantom II boost gauge and bought it from egauges.com. They sold me an amber bulb to go with it... guess what, it don't open to change bulbs at all. I called Autometer and they told me you can't change the color of the Phantom IIs. So I sent back the bulb for a $6 refund.

The Phantom II gauges look almost perfect to my 99GSX white face instrument panel during the day. But at night the Phantom IIs bright white numbering stands out as different. Wish I could change it to amber. Maybe you could change it by breaking it open?

It probably uses the small flat type of LED which requires soldering.

When did you buy yours they sent me a bulb for the gauge in my truck

The Phantom II's are "sealed units" so you'd have to bust one open to do anything. Which is what I want to do someday, just haven't gotten around to it yet.
