I finially made it to a 1/4 mile track, I've been running 1/8 mile all summer. I've been running 7.2 in the 1/8. But it isn't a true 1/8, only 600 feet. So unless I'm doing my math wrong I think I should be about 7.4-7.5 in a true 1/8. So based on this I was expecting a mid to high 11 second pass.
I didn't get any clean runs, my best was 12.696 @ 115.06 mph, missed 3rd gear. I'll take a pic of the slip and post in tomarrow. Here's the details.
R/T .878
60 1.837
330 5.262
1/8 8.247
mph 85.69
1000 10.680
1/4 12.696
mph 115.06
Couple of oddities here, extremely high mph for the ET. Also I gained 30 mph over the second 1/8 mile. Looking at the 1/4 mile list the people gaining about 30mph over the final 1/8 are running mid 11's, right were I was expecting I would be.
As I said I didn't get any clean runs, in addition to the run above with the missed shift all my other runs something was slipping. I have thought of 3 possibilities; spun all four tires, clutch is slipping, or my center lsd is no longer limited but all slip. So here's what was happening on three runs when I shifted into 2nd gear something instantly slipped, I was instantly banging the rev limiter at 8000rpms. I lifted and hit the throttle again and had full traction, the car rocketed off. On another run this happened in 3rd gear, may have been what happened when I thought I missed 3rd gear. Also on one run it happed in both 2nd and 4th gear. One run I ran a 13.5 @ 114 mph.
The first time it happened I thought I broke the transmission and was just free reving the engine, but then with just a quick lift and back on the throttle the car rocketed off with full traction. I have a Horsepower Freaks clutch, it is a cintered bronze 6 puck sprung disk with an act 2600 pp. They claim it has held 700 awd hp, I've made about 35-40 drag launches on this clutch with out a hint of slippage prior to today. Plus the traction returned instantly, all previous experiences I've had with clutch slippage the clutch gradually regained traction. Wheel spin, I heard a couple of other people complaining about the track being greasy. I'm running 225/40/18 azenis rt-615. I don't think this is very possible considering that when I shifted into four and this happened I was doing about 100mph, this would mean that I lit up all 4 tires at 100mph. And finally the center lsd, I have no idea if this could be what the problem is, but I'm pretty sure the other two aren't. I'm still on the original 175,000 mile lsd. I stopped by a friends house on the way home to test the lsd by jacking up one side of the car and and turning the front and rear wheels in opposite directions, there was some resistance. I don't know how much there is supposed to be.
Anyone have any thoughts?
I'll post the time slip and some logs showing the slip tomarrow.
