Alright, I'm pulling all my posts from my local site, and am going to post them in my first post here, and we can go from there!!!!

Many of you know I picked up a new car a couple weeks back...

1989 plymouth colt... no rust, decent condition needs lots of work...

Here is when I purchased the car. I drove all the way to colorado to pick it up.

No interior when the car was purchased...

Miles UNKNOWN... car fax reported in 1999 that there were 148,000 on the car then... been a couple years since hahaha...

Update....

I took the car to a weigh station tonight on my way to lincoln and the car weighed in with tools in the back and full interior with some brackets/sound deadening etc at 2245

I'm extremely happy with that weight and with a little bit of interior removed a couple lightweight seats and the ac pulled the car should have no problems weighing 2150...

now on to the progress... I have a set of A ACURA TL HID's... there is to much power drawn through the switch with this setup and its frieing the stock relay so we'll pull a 40 amp off the battery.

also started buffing the car and pulling some of the oxidation out but needs alot more work...



Kyb agx adjustable's in the front... with a nice 2 inch drop...

the agx adjustable for the rear are 2 inches shorter so I am going to fab and weld a 2 inch perch to the rear axle to make them work...

Mirage turbo gauge cluster with Tach... pretty hard to come by... looks good!

So over this weekend I decided to spend about 6 hours with the girlfriends brother and really do our best to clean up the car... its a 89 and had the oxidation to show it...

the car almost looked pink as you can see from the earlier pictures...

Spent about 5 hours buffing it and about an hour on a quick wax and here is how it turned out

Alright guys so its time for another hour behind the keyboard with pictures and updates ... I'm home sick today from work so I'll make this update a good one....

I was searching ebay the other day for wrecked 6 bolt dsm's in hope of finding a cheap car to yank the motor out of, and I found it...

The car is a 1990 FWD 6 bolt fresh rebuild ( Cylinders honed not bored to save money ( cheapass) and a brand new head!)

he said the car was started and ran but something about the tranny was wrong so he had to put it on hold, than came back later and tried to start the car again but it wouldnt...

So I purchased the car with the rebuilt motor with 5 minutes of " running " time on it for 610 dollars and headed on my way to Des Moines Iowa which is 2 hours away to pick up my new car...



I was amuzed to see this riced out turd... it kinda made me laugh... I even got to talk to this #### riding a bike who was going to purchase the car for 1200 earlier that year... I laughed as I winched it on the car to hear him talk about his 900 WHP SRT4 with a awd kit from ams performance off of a 97 gsx and it made me laugh because well, he was riding a bike not a car and was clearly full of shit...

After picking up some Applebee's the girlfriend and I headed back on our way home to Omaha Nebraska!

Due to me being sick I decided it would be best for me to do as little work possible on pulling this motor and helping him learn a little

why in Gods good name would anyone I mean anyone paint a valve cover and misc Acc. that color!!! It looks absolutely horrible... but as you can see the new head

Since the car already looked fast we figured why not make it look a little faster hahaha...


their is no need for a cherry picker here... this is the " RIGHT " way to pull a motor


the fork lift wouldnt clear the light so we had to have him up top holding the light!


2 and 1/2 hours later of hard work the motor was out and on the ground... pretty quick I think...





I was pretty anxious to tear into this motor, and seeing that it only had a felpro head gasket and stock headstuds made me realize that I'm going to run a 4 layer HG and Arp's so I might as well pull the head off anyways and take a look....

I than pulled the head to find this... the bottom end does in fact look freshly rebuilt, and is there any possible way to check if those are in fact 2g pistons?



I stated earlier that he said the motor had only been honed due to what i think was trying to " save a little money " and this is what I came across in the number one cylinder...



now from the carbon build up and the age of the wear I'm 99.9% sure that this wear was from before the rebuild..

you can in fact feel it with your fingernail and it makes me a little skeptical, not that it will hurt compression but that it might burn a little oil, no big deal I'll run this bi***!!!

Its probably a half of an inch long and has me a little bit worried...

Its been the plan since I sold the 60-1, which i ended up for selling at the same price I got it for... I would like to see some 130+ MPH traps out of the car before the end of the year...

Over half the block has been payed for so that leaves me with right around 3000 in parts left to buy... I'm thinking it will be out in July, but I am going to have to drive it for 500 miles to break it in ETC ETC... it will race though this year, for sure.

which pretty much leaves me needing, cams, intake and the turbo... Besides that I'm ready to go... The machine shop is checking right now for piston availability and am looking to run something high like 9.3:1 Compression...

higher torque, softer punch when boost comes on and getting that turbo a little more efficent at a little lower boot level :yes:

I started working for my dad again and my job has become to put an inventory in and inventory out system for the company ( a different one than is in place) so first came first and I pulled EVERYTHING out of the basement and took most of the un usable stuff to the junkyard...

I got it clean enough to rent a spot from him so now I have my own little shop its not small but not huge... def nice to be able to bring work and leave me car here now..

This weekend turned out to Go pretty good, Matt ( my girlfriends brother who I'm helping learn about this stuff) didnt work friday or sunday, but did saturday so we worked friday night and sunday afternoon...

Friday we started by adding a couple more bulbs to get a little more light in the shop.



We than jumped right into pulling the motor, normally I can get the motor out or in and it takes me about two and a half hours... with trying to teach Matt how to work on the car ( and teaching him how to drink bud light ) It took quite a bit longer, but we had a great time...

and with the help of Aaron ( my little bro) and matt we had it out in no time..


Today rolled around and we decided to really get into the car and get some work done, and we figured the best way to do that would be to fire up the grill, cook some good food, and do nothing for the first couple hours :yes: The brats were great and so was the weather.







Within an hour or so after getting to work on the car we were ready to pull the motor!















After all the work we got done I decided to go out and do a little bit of play...







The last hour or so we spent cleaning up and getting the building ready to get back to its monday morning business traffic... It was a great weekend, Def. beats going to the bars or to a house party.

Thanks! I cant wait to see 450WHP on pump gas... and hopefully after the tranny work this fall 600WHP on race gas!

Very nice progress man, i hadn't heard from you in a while and was starting to wonder how the Colt was coming. Also are you doing a standup on the passenger pegs? I just got out yesterday for the first time, rode a few stand ups but nothing silly.

I'm going to have to take you for another ride soon..pushing a lot more boost now.. you still got my number hit me up!

What machine shop did you take the engine to?

The car is really making pretty good progress, i sent you a comment on myspace a couple days ago messing around, but besides that just working on this beast...

The motor is at ROJAM for some JE pistons on some eagle rods...

I would enjoy another ride, and my stand ups are well into the balance point now... There getting pretty high up there, esp the 1st gear 25MPH ones...

the forklift makes it 100 times easier than a hoist... FOR SURE!!!

looks good. My mirage is finally DONE! I raced Kyle's vette on the bottle and was even or maybe pulling him a little (his vette did 11.8@121). This was still with the stock motor (1.6 liter) and a 16g. You should be doing 150mph in the quarter with that thing. I can't wait to go for a ride in yours! Time for me to start on the 2g. If you need any help call me.

Good to see you taking a rough car and turning it into something great. Keep up the hard work. And props on having a gf cool enough to help you work on your car. That one's a keeper. Did you say you were going to run over 9:1 compression? Any chance of using water/meth injection w/ the pump gas?
