Hey i was wondering if anyone has ever put a guage in the air vent on the door of a 2g? i am getting the spray soon and i was thinking of putting the nitrous guage here, so its not easily seen by others, keep it sleeper. so people wont know i have the nitrous in there. i was also thinking of cutting out the horn button cover on the left of the wheel, removing the actual horn button, puttin the N2O button there, then covering it back up with the horn cover. just some of my ideas to keep my spray unknown. tell me what you think.

Sorry i dont know how to put photos on threads, so hears a link to the places circled. (if you could tell me how to put photos on, that would be great too)
thanks

sounds like a good idea. i havent seen any kits to run a gauge there, but i cant imagine it would be too hard. as for the button, you would have to take apart your steering wheel, so just be careful you dont detonate your air bag.

Putting one there would definately be custom but I think that it would look good.

Regarding the side vent mod:
Its actually a "pretty" common thing. I've seen a few different ones and theres a FAQ on it somewhere. I'll see if I run across it. The 2" guages looked great in there and very custom. I wouldn't put something you actually need to look at that much though because of the location.

I wouldn't try and put a switch in the steering wheel itself. you'd have to build another clockspring type or coiled wire so the wheel could turn. Plus if it ever shorted out you'd be armed all the time or if it is the throttle switch you would stat spraying as soon as you armed.

If you wanted to try and put the switch somewhere hidden you could try putting it inside the shift know like they used to do on Tip Audis that they converted to manumatics.

youd need a really small momentary switch, but whats been done once can be done again.

When I installed my boost guage, I straped it to the steering column cover. I am on a severe budget, and a pillar mount was too much $ to me. What I did was disassemble the cover, cut two small slots in it to feed a large hose clamp through, put it back on. Then put the gauge in the clamp, and tighten it down. If you put it in the right place, and the guage isn't to big (I have a 2" Autometer Phantom), you can still see all the idiot lights behind it. All the wiring and plumbing tuck under the stock cluster bezel. You want to be sure that it sits far enough away from the dash that you won't kink any lines. I cut the mounting studs off, and got it as close as I could. It sits low enough that the car next to you can't see it, and even standing outside the car it is barely visible once you paint the clamp and gauge body flat black. I get alot of people who didn't even notice it untill it was dark out and I turned the lights on. Then its like "Hey! What is that?". The other thing I did was to turn the clamp around so that the screw part was facing down, on the right side, and then cut off any excess band that is left. Two reasons for this-1, the clamp won't be as obvious, and 2, its harder for some smart ass to loosen the clamp and run off with the guage without destroying it. It makes it a little harder to tighten it down, as you have to use a wrench instead of a nut driver or socket, but it looks better tucked down like that. I will try to get a pic up if I can... :dsm: :thumb:

I seen some1 have a gauge there befor, looked pretty nice, I would suggest putting your least important gauge there, He had his A/F there.

thanks for all the input. what about the actual button to start spraying? anyone got pics of where theres is?
thanks

i'm notsure if you are talkig about the momentary switch for wot or the off on arming switch.

you could get ANOTHER defroster switch (has the led) if it is on a 2g and install it in the sw blank. That would be sneaky I think.

Like this?! Not all fancy custom stuff.. but it was in my door.

I think the one in the FAQ looks pretty clean though I would defintly say put a unimportant gauge in there.
