Well there goes another 2 point against my car. LOL

WEIGHT REDUCTION:
#10) Lexan front windshield +2

I broke my windshield a couple of months ago and was going to just replace it with glass, until I read the new NASA P. T. rules the day before yesterday. It's now replaced with polycarbonate (Lexan). :D

I needed some more weight off the front of my car. :thumb:

What kind of weight do you figure was in the front glass? I've replaced the rear at a wopping 45 pounds but have yet to do the front...

Looking good Tom:thumb:

Thanx Greg,

We're trying to get a lot done to it before the season starts. My new rack came in today, and we should get it in tomorrow.

We had someone come out and remove the windshield and they were going to give us a couple of days to do a few things in that area of the car, and come back later and replace the windshield. The original windshield got pitched before I could weigh it. The polycarbonate is dry fitted in at the moment, and I still need to remove it, paint the periphery, and rivet it in. So I would still have an opportunity to weigh it. I bought a 4' x 8' sheet for $107.00 and, I think, there should be enough to do the rear quarters and hatch, I'll find out soon.

I took out my glove box, a long time ago. I now see that if the glove box is gone you gain another point. That being the case, I would like to remove the entire dash, while I have the shield out. I just don't think there is enough time to re-engineer it, in thin aluminum, before the season starts. :)

WEIGHT REDUCTION:
#6) Removal of dashboard, instrument panel, brackets, and/or glove box
+1

We've pretty much finished the Lexan windshield. It turned out pretty well and wasn't to difficult to do, utilizing cleco fasteners to help keep things in line, between steps. By the way, that's one of the the other new Lasers (David's) in the background. We've started to get it ready for the track.

:)

Looks like you guys are moving along Tom. Will you be ready for Willow Springs next weekend? At this point I hope I even make it to Fontana...

I think my car would be ready for next weekend. The problem is, I have so many things going on right now, I don't know if we will make Willow, either. Our house is in escrow and should close in the next 2 weeks. I've been trying to work, move things into storage, look for another house, and work on the car. I've probably done to much working on the car and not enough working on the house things. I may be forced to do that, the next 2 weeks:cry:.

My car should be at Fontana in March for sure, and the 3rd car (Ken's) may be there. I'm not sure about David's for Fontana. We'll see what happens.

:)
Tom

P'S.

I know you'll be at Fontana!!!

I'm not going to do the rear quarters and hatch right now. I haven't drawn them out on the sheet I bought, but I hope there will be enough to do all of it. Polycarbonate sheeting in 3/16" thickness is what we used. You can pick up scrap material like this in sizes that you should be able to do your quarter with on eBay. Just look up polycarbonate or Lexan sheeting.

Unfortunately I didn't get the weight from either windshield.

:) Tom
