Car died at 65 tonight.

I just bought a 95 geo metro with 89k on it today. I was driving it home from my parents house and it started making a high pitched wine and the engine got real loud then just shut off and about 5 seconds later the whole car shut off. I was doin about 65 on I5 when this happened. Belts are ok, oil is full. But the oil pressure light was blinking on and off most of the day today. ANy ideas? What should i try to do first, thanks.

Also i can get the electrical to start but the car won't turn over and the starter won't even click. Also the battery was DEAD when i tried to start it back up. This is right after it had been starting on its own fine all day.

Sounded like an oil pump at first, but that shouldn't make your battery dead. You might want to see if your altenator froze up. I bet that's what it is. Take it off, and go get it checked at Pep Boys, Vato Zone, O'Reily's..... any of those places.

ya i switched out the alternator because thats what i figured it was. However i trickle cahrged the battery and its still not starting. Won't crank over, so i'm thinking the engine siezed, or the starter thing is catching up the flywheel. Also theres oil in the plug well so it needs to valve seals probably and maybe new rings, ugh, f it, i'm probably just gonna part it out or junk yard it. THanks for the hlep tho.
