I'm having an issue that I can't quite figure out. When I press the clutch down, it goes down and stays down. I've had master cylinder issues before with past dsms, but this one is strange. After I noticed the problem, I checked the master cylinder and it was empty, so I filled it back up and it has been full since yesterday, but I still don't get any pressure from the clutch.

I'm wondering if it's possible that this could be a master/slave cylinder issue if the master cylinder is still full from when I filled it yesterday. Has anyone had any experience with a problem similar to mine? I know what to check to see if it's the master cylinder but I'm not too sure what to expect out of the slave.

Thanks

So it went empty, and you refilled it but didnt bleed it Shame on you! A good check to see if your clutch master and slave are bad is to pull the rubber boots back and if brown nasty fluid comes out it needs replacing

if you have an aftermarket clutch it can #### up you master or slave i had to replace my master when i went to only a act 2100 after a week of driving

The only reason I filled it up was to test if there was a leak, but I can bleed it again.

I don't have an aftermarket clutch.

I don't see how bleeding will solve the problem, one day it was fine then the next I just lost all pedal pressure and the master cylinder went empty. Even if there was air in the system it'd still give me some pressure.

The boots don't really pull back that easy but i'll try them anyway, I'm leaning towards the slave being dead more than the master just because the master looks as if it had been replaced recently.

Hydraulics seem to leak that way- they'll hold fine, then develop a leak that loses all fluid.... and then seals up again well enough to hold for a day or a month.

Also check your hard line where it goes into the compression nut at the slave. I had two crack there.

bleeding will solve your problem... temporarily. the clutch system is hydraulic, not pneumatic. it wont work off air pressure. Since you managed to lose all fluid in the reservoir, it should be easy to find the leak... you shouldnt even need to pull back the boots. Feel under the dash around the master.. if its wet, you have a bad master. also check the slave.. again, you lost all fluid, if the slave is bad, i expect you should be able to see a wet slave cylinder without having to pull the boot back.

Maybe so, but when i went from auto to manual, i tried using the old master/slave from the parts car i got everything from and turns out both were bad, very minor brown leakage under the boots.
