Okay here is the ordeal. my water pump was going out about 2 weeks ago. It was making a nasty grinding noise. I decided to change the pump before it got to bad. I installed the new water pump and the new gasket. after ecerything was done and back together I start the car. after about 6 minutes there is steam and water everywhere. I know I torqued it right and installed it right. I remove the new pump off of my car and the new gasket literally desolves in my hand. so I figured I just popped the gasket. I tried putting form-a-gasket on it and reinstalled it. Done YET AGAIN I start the car after about 3 minutes water is dripping below my crank (from pump or coolant returnline) I seal off the returnline with form-a-gasket to see it that is where it was leaking. star the car again. IT STILL LEAKS!!! I am about insame now. this is my second motor I just put it in about 2000 miles ago had the tranny rebuilt and various other things done. 6,000 bucks later and I am broke and I am stuck with this broken car. Any help?

Are you sure the new water pump is not defective? I once installed a rebuilt water pump and it began to leak as soon as I added the coolant. Removed it and found a hole in the pump casing.

Get a new water pump gasket. The DAY BEFORE you install the water pump, attach the gasket to the water pump with a VERY THIN layer of RTV. Then when you put it on, add another thin bead of RTV. Mine never leaked ;)

thanks I am returning the water pump today and tomorrow I will be installing my new one. hope it doesnt leak or I will go officially insane over this car.
