So i couldnt figure out what was wrong with my car so i took it to a local shop, they informed me that my FPR was spitting and i had a crack in my ecxhaust manifold(i knoew about the crack its not major) but then they also said i had a comp test of 0 on all 4 cylinders.....what conditions do you need to have that.....I've never seen that before and i've owned 3 dsms......thanks for any help.

Yeah Bro...sounds to me like your timing belt went...maybe, well most likey messed some stuff up inside...pop your head to see where you stand...Let us know what happened...

i have to agree with bent valves, also are you 100% sure that your timing is in fact, dead on? Also, even tho its highly unlikely, u could have had some insane horrible detonation and have holes in all 4 pisons, or had ur timing slipe and smash into ur valves a few too many times and band holes into your pistons. u could have snapped ur rods sumhow. even tho id say those last 2 are unlikely. But id have to go with either bent valves or timing that is off. but if you timing was that far off, u are damn near gauranteed to have busted valves. take the head off, then u should have a better idea of what's going on. also maybe u should do the compression test, who knows, maybe the shop is that dumb and they screwed it up, or had a bad gauge.

i havent taken the head off yet but like i said the timing is right on and the belt is completly intact....any ideas??

-Do a 'leak down' test.

but that still doesnt explain as to why my car could run fine one minute and then just die with no tbelt breaking or losing any pistons. Im starting to think my only choice is either give up on my DSM, replace the engine completly, or...well i dont even know what........

I'm telling you... pull the valve cover and check to see if any rockers are laying in there.

We can't tell you what is wrong with the vehicle, as we cannot SEE it.

YOU are OUR eyes and hands.

i once had a rocker arm fall off once, car still ran, but like total a$$. i agree to check that, i guess i didn't even think of that. it might still be on there, just kinda crookedly on there, thats how mine was, look real close.

Belts can slip, cogs can strip without warning, loss of oil pressure causing followers to drop out and bend valves in the process. Until you pull the valve cover and look at the valve heights and cam follower positions will you know better.

If you do the repairs yourself you are looking at $200-$300 in gaskets and parts, the car will be down for several days to a week once you start.

If you bail out without fixing the resale value will be seriously impacted for there is always the possibility of additional unforseen damages which any prospective buyer will add into their offer.

Cheers,
GTM
