Why Is My Car Detonating

on my 2nd gen non turbo to turbo conversion ive always ran a consistent 13-14 lbs of boost through my car with no detonation problem. recently once i get out of first gear and into later rpms in second gear on it starts to detonate and sputter...i changed the plugs thinking it was just misfiring but its still doing the same thing...what could the cause for the sudden detonation be...ive already turned the boost down and its still doing it...plleeasse help with some ideas...thanks

I have a 1g and I'm having the same problems. At high rpm's I'm getting detonation. I'm also getting boost creep at high rpm's so my boost creep could be causing detonation. I'm not sure. The both of them are really annoying though and I have no clue how to fix either one of them.

believe it or not my air filter just needed a good cleaning....i remembered when it did it last time and thats what it needed so i tryed it again and sure enough thats what it was....guess it was just sucking in to much dirt and shit and making it run crappy...thanks for ur help though...nick
