I'm currently working on an relocated oil filter and cooler setup and I think I've found an oil filter bracket that is perfect. Problem is, the company that sells it is doing the following:

1. out of stock
2. won't tell me the part number or what make/model it came off of
3. probably charging too much, but I can't be sure because there is no way to ask mitsu their price

here's a pic

Does anyone on this board have any knowledge of this part?

I've been to the mitsubishi parts departments at two dealerships and even talked to people over the phone at mitsubishi trying to find out what car this part came off of and what the part number is. One of the guys at the parts department even went to the microfiche files to check and see if the starion (my best guess for the donor car) parts list.

i agree there aren't any lines for an oil cooler, but this really isn't intended for a daily driver. this is more for the 1/4 mile only guys for whom oil cooling isn't of the highest priority since their runs last only about 10 or less seconds.

Yeah, I've got about 3 of those brackets lying around my spare parts bin. That's not what I want. If anybody else wants one hit me up and I'll sell them off.

I don't think the pic I posted is of an NT oil filter housing (that I know of). But, if you know the year/model/ part number of that housing please tell.

The reason I want this thing is so I can spin on my remote oil filter bracket adapter (which is very short) and then run some AN fittings over to the front wheel well where the oil filter and cooler are. The typical brackets (as shown in your link) put the oil fitler over by the downpipe, and I just don't have the room over there, nor do I want to put the oil near that heat source.

I do understand the importance of an oil cooler.

i thought i'd heard it was off of a montero or some other mitsubishi that was relatively un-sporty. if you do a remote oil filter mount it'd be great or even for just putting one there when it came to having extra room for a large downpipe that something like a big garret would require, especially if you had an alternator relocation setup already.

I received the following information from BUCK, that the part number was MD191753 and the filter bracket was from May 92 to May 94 2 Liter Non Turbo.

After purchasing the part online and paying $60 I discovered that he was in fact WRONG! and this was false information despite supposed visual confirmation of the part by a Mitsubishi parts rep.

I've contacted several knowledgable parts managers who have scoured the CAPS program, but they have said that it's unlikely that they would ever find anything as the program often uses the same picture for a variety of part numbers for convenience.

So once again, I'm looking for any information someone may have as to the true part number for this piece. I either need a part number, or a confirmed VIN number from a vehicle equiped with this part, or a specific engine size and feature list in order to determine the correct part number.

I wish you'd contacted me as I could've told you that the part wasn't from an nt dsm. It's from another mitsubishi, but my old nt was identical to the 91-94 turbo filter housings but no sandwich oil-water cooler. Turbotrix used to list this part I know.

In fact the first link that Buck posted in his first post was of a stock nt oil filter housing which isn't the same as the picture you posted.

yes, so far we've identified that there are four 6 bolt oil filter brackets. three of them remain part number-less as far as I can tell.

90 turbo with the external oil cooler provisions
?? NT with no sandwich adapter - part number MD191753
91+ turbo with the sandwich adapter
?? NT with the forward facing filter - which is the one I'm seeking the part number for.

I wouldn't have ordered the part number that Buck provided as I was skeptical, but he insisted that it was the correct part after seeing the picture I posted.

All we know 100% is that it's $75 at Turbo Trix, $50 through Buschur Racing, so I'm guessing someone else probably sells it as well. It is an OEM piece, and FFWD may sell it as well.

I realize this is an old thread, but I'm trying to do some research on how I can install an oil cooler on my 2g turbo without spending an ass load. My friend has a 1990 air-oil cooler and a 1990 oil filter housing that he's willing to donate to help my cause

How can I get this done properly, and as cheap as possible? What's this Sandwich adapter???

you won't be able to use a 90 filter bracket on your 2g. There is a difference between the 6 bolt and 7 bolt brackets.

The sandwich cooler is the round silver item that you already have on your car. It pumps coolant through it as the oil goes through in order to cool it off, not super efficient. All stock turbo cars from 1991-1999 have these already.
