huge oil spill

Aight fellas im new to the dsm world help me out. Heres the story my oil pressure was reading low the other day no big deal i think maybe im a little low on oil. i dont drive it for a few days then i start it an my gauge is reading like no oil pressure at all. so i turn it off an go check it in the morning cause it was like midnigt. So in the morning i check my oil my dipstick is like bare i look down an theres a HUGE puddle of oil on the ground surrounding my front drivers side tire.any ideas of what or where should i be looking when i put it up on some jacks this weekend. thanx in advance peace

My bet is "Water to Oil Cooler Crush Syndrome" - The cooler compresses & you "spit" an Oil Filter gasket. Thankfully this happened in the driveway instead of the Interstate. I'll edit in some good links...

Don't do the Mod in VFAQ - get an air to oil cooler - in the meantime ONLY use Mitsu Oil Filters - but honestly it's a time bomb - you need to can that water cooler ASAP!

What I would do is jack it up, clean up the entire oil puddle and all of the oil around your engine. Then I would refill the engine with oil and see if anything starts leaking out. After like 5 minutes you don't notice anything leaking out start the engine and then pay close attention to see if it starts leaking from anywhere. Look around where the oil pan meets the block, the timing belt side, where the valve cover meets the head, etc. Hopefully you will find it and then you can fix it.
