Here is the problem, I bought a car very foolishly being an inexperienced individual, 1g awd gsx because it was there and I wanted one and I had the money. Guy said turbo was fine and everything, had a head rebuild 40k ago from timing belt snap, also had trans problems come to find out after we bought it (popping out of first, grinding into second). So got it back and brought it to a friend who works on cars a little, I was on a major budget at the time so... we checked out the timing and realigned it because he thought it was off. Replaced the blown turbo the guy said was fine and put it all back together. He started the car and from what he tells me there was a loud *thunk* of some sort. Car now makes a chainsaw noise whenever it runs and after being driven over 10min stalls out whenever you push in the clutch. Im leaving for basic training soon need to get it fixed and get rid of it. Any help would be appreciated.

Does it idle rough and have poor performance? I had something similar happen to me once when my timing belt slipped a few notches.
If you want to test that, pull off the top of the timing belt cover and take out the spark plug from cylinder 1 or 4. Put a long screwdriver in the spark plug hole and manually turn the crank with a breaker bar. Make sure that the lines on the camshafts line up when cylinder 1 or 4 is at Top Dead Center.

We did compression test before we took it apart and the results were 150 130 145 140 aprox. And thanks for the advice I'll try again for top dead center but we thought it was when we put the timing belt back on, also we didnt replace any parts, could that be the problem? Other guy thinks its stalling from the intake and that the noise is comming from the oil pump.

And yeah performance is kind of shitty, my girlfriends stock probe gt is pulling harder than my car. Idle doesnt feel all that bad though.
