Car Smoking, could this cause it?

heres whats up, btw my car has a stage-1 6-bolt and a 3" exhaust, the rest is stock.

My car is puting out white smoke, its from oil burning and it does this all the time! After about 5 or 6 minutes it then starts to sputter, has a bad missfire, and the exhaust get louder. The engine shakes pretty bad, the car has a huge power loss (whether boosting and not boosting). The compression is good, and the car smokes more when I let off the gas.

When I put the motor in 1000 miles ago I checked the turbo and it had no shaft play and only has 13k miles on it. I took off the lower IC pipe at the IC, checked for oil and I didnt see very much. When I took my car to get looked at, and they said my Turbo was bad. They said there was oil all over the intake, and that the turbo had a ton of shaft play and was no good.



Could this cause the missfire and the rest of the problems?
Also, could the turbo actually go bad this fast? (its a t-25 and boost at 10-11 psi)

If anyone knows if this could be the problem please let me know. Cause I might have to end up spending bookoo bucks on a new turbo system.

But thats not all bad is it? hehe
 
Are you sure it is blowing white smoke? if it is white that means there is water in it, are you sure it isn't blue or have a blue tint to it. alright on with my post. i put in a 6 bolt in my 2g also with a 2g head and a t25 aswell and 3in exhaust and in less than 1000 miles it started smoking on deceleration then started smoking all the time, yet my compression was good and i believe you also have a horribly bad turbo. pull off the air inlet pipe and try to move the shaft back and forth not up and down between the exhaust side and compressor side i would bet dollars to donuts that it has horrible shaft play. what i belive is happening same as mine oil is getting in your exhaust pipe and burning there. Replace the turbo.
 
and you don't need a new turbo system and you could replace it with a 14b and gain a lil power for cheap i got my new turbo used for 100 bucks they are relatively inexpensive used.
and if you are gonna check for oil in the turbo check the lower intercooler pipe at the turbo or at the throttle body's charge pipe in the throttle body.

well it sounds to me that I have the exact same problem that you had!

I did a compression check and also had the coolant pressurized. It hasnt lost any coolant, and I have had 2 shops tell me its oil (and it has that nasty oil smell).

My car is at a shop a few hours away right now, but they did tell me that the turbo did have alot of shaft play.

I was just wanting to know if the turbo going bad would cause my problem, and from what you have told me it really sounds like that is what has happend. I wasnt sure if the shop guys were just telling me this so I would buy a new turbo from them. Thanks for you reply it is a really BIG help. It was pretty easy to read through it also :thumb:
