Is there a certain way that you have to put the cam angle sensor in? I am not for sure which way it needs to go in after I swapped heads. Are there any marks on it to line it up???? Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks,

David :talon:

well, there is no way to put it on and have it right the first time, put it on by aligning the rod thing into the hole thing. i dont think it can go upside down,

and you will have to set base timing.
with a timelight, or if you have alogger, use that ;)
vfaq has instructions on setting it.

if you have a logger, just turn it until it shows the right percentage. 10% i think.

Yeah, it can go both ways. I am having problems with getting my car to start. I have tried it both ways, but I just wanted to find out exactly which way that it went so I don't have to worry about that anymore and try to figure out what is wrong with the car.

You can take the sensor out and turn the edge that goes into the dam around and it will go right back in there. I didn't know if it really matters which way it goes in or not. That is what I was asking.

well, the wires should come out on top, LOL.

and angle out towards the fuel rail. your wireharness should indicate proper up/down

and just have someone crank the car, while you spin it back and forth for a rough position, and then finetune it

I know how the cam angle sensor is suppose to mount on the head. I was just wondering if the part that actually slides into cam had to go in a certain way.

no,
just alight the cas to the head right, and move the piece so it fits in the gap, there is no possible way to get it on perfect, since the inside piece spins 360 deg.

ive seen where a car would not start when it was out of adjustment to an extreme,

we would everytime, have one turning the car over, and the other adjusting the cas back and forth until it started, then used a timing light to pinpoint its position.

a datalogger is good tool for this,

are you sure the cas is your only problem?
possible to cas adjust all day long and it not start, if someting else is happening.

:dsm: there sure is a right and wrong way to line the cas up!!!! heres what to do: with the dowels on the cams at the 12:00 position ,the same position that you would have them in to install the t-belt, grab the cas and look at the bottom of it where the blade part is....now look closer at the blade and u will notice one side has a notch in it, now look close at the cas housing in the same area and u will notice that it has a punch mark in it, simply align the two marks and install the cas with the cams dowel pins at 12:00 and then set the slot in the cas housing to about the middle position, start the engine up and set your timing from there using a timing light and the proper procedure!!!!!!!!!!

Thanx man,

That is exactly what I needed to know. I really appreciate it.
