Idling Problem after Disc. Pos. Terminal

Ok, im installinga wiring kit for my amp so i had to disconnect the positive cables. I took a nut off then the 2 wires that each have "O" connecters. Then took off another nut to take off the "main" cable.

I put it back together in reverse order and even cleaned the connections with a wire brush. But now when im sitting there idling I idle at 100-200 rpms. Not 1 - 2 thousand, 1 - 2 hundread. Is the low idle caused by bad connections? Or does the car need to readjust since i disconnected the positive cables?

100 - 200 is quite low - your oil pressure is Nil at that point - it's just not cool to idle there - mine idles higher (1000 or so for short while) after an ECU reset - I suppose it's quite possibly a completey normal ECU "re-learning" event after the ECU "reset" you initiated when you powered down but I couldn't bear to watch it idle that low - Indeed the ECU is always powered - unless you disconnect the battery or pull a particular fuse that doesn't even say ECU on it - I forget which one...

BTW - are you installing a "CAP" with that AMP? Been there - done that - bought the Alternator T-Shirt...
