Just replaced the cylinder head, timing belt, automatic tensioner and pulley tensioner on my '93 Eagle Talon 2.0 turbo. The cylinder head is a fresh rebuild from National Cylinder Head. The engine block is a 1990 but everything else is the original 1993 factory issue. All timing marks line up and the timing belt is tight. The problem is this: the engine will start and will stay running for a few seconds as we pump the throttle and carefully rotate the camshaft/crankshaft position sensor but then quits. Just when it seems we have the sensor in the right spot the engine quits. Also she won't idle. The engine will just not stay running. I pulled the camshaft/crankshaft sensor off and rotated it 180 degrees but it made no difference. Also I have two questions: 1. When I transferred the camshaft/crankshaft sensor from the old cylinder head to the new head, I noticed it is not "keyed". It has two tabs which slide into two slots on the end of the intake cam. I tried it both ways but since it is not "keyed" does it matter which way it goes in? 2. When I put the fuel rail on I noticed the fuel injectors do not "bottom out" onto the intake manifold. They kind of just float just above the intake ports. It seems to me when I took the fuel rail off the old head the fuel injectors were tight against the intake manifold but that was a month ago and I can't remember for sure. Which is correct? I will appreciate any help or advice. Thanks, Ken

thanks, but the spacers are in place. When we took the orignal fuel injectors out.....they almost felt spring loaded. Now they have play and are appox 1/16 inch above the manifold. Don't know if this was how they were before we took them off. Any help would be grate. thanks

on the intake cam there is no notch or key for the cas to slide into? it sounds like they might have gotten the cams in backwards if that's the case

You're right Mike. We were missing the injector "insulators" that slide onto the bottom of the injectors and then into ports on the cylinder head. When you tighten the fuel rail they form an airtight seal and hold the injectors firmly in place. Without them we had four king-size vacuum leaks!!!! Made a trip to the dealership and picked up four fresh "insulators" for $3.44 each. Only took a few minutes to install and now she's running like new with a fresh rebuilt head from National Cylinder Head for $399.
Thanks to all for your help and prompt replies.
