Alright well I went to start my car today after installed a built 6bolt and it wont start. It cranks fine, it keeps on cranking but never fully starts. Sometime I will get exhaust muffles and it seems and sounds like it is about to start then doesnt start and just keeps cranking. It wants to start but it just doesnt, it just cranks all day and wont ever fully start.
after running back and forth from the local dsm shop here I have come to the conclusion it is electrical. I tested compression and compression is 150 across the board, so thats good. Now on to the important stuff, I checked for spark and all plugs are sparking so thats alright but when I pulled the plugs, only one plug had carbon on it, the other 3 plugs look brand new with no indication of any combustion. So I figured that the one cylinder is firing like normal and combusting but the other 3 cylinders must not be getting fuel or something, all the local shop could tell me was it sounds like a wiring prob. now. I have a 95 GSX. I used the wiring diagram from magnusmotorsports to wire the CAS, and I did the thing were you look at the coil and label the plug wires A,B,C,D and then I swapped plug A with C and swapped B with D. Then I changed the injector trigger pinouts at the ecu like it says to do on the RRE Site. So I dunno what to check now. Any help would be nice, if you tell me to check fuses let me know which ones and where. Thanks for the help

Damn, thats got to be hectic finding the problem and that one. I would double check all the wiring you did, especially to the injectores..check the coil and power transistor

I have one question, the local dsm shop said the power tranistor doesnt have to be grounded so it isnt, I just put it in a place where it sits nice and doesnt move. The only wiring I did was for the CAS and switching the ECU Pinouts for the injector triggers. Now the sensor that sits on top of the 2g intake manifold, is that the map sensor, because that is not on my new engine I did not swap it over because I was told I could get rid of it since my egr is eliminated.

From the way you explained it, 1 piston with carbon and the others are clean and you are getting spark, I would check if fuel is being pumped into the injectors. If you are only getting spark but no fuel then that would result in clean combustion compartments. I would tackle the fuel system and just make sure all the Is are dotted and Ts crossed, then you can definitely scratch that as a possbility.
Good Luck,
Steve

The power transistor "should" be grounded but it will run without it being grounded....I know this for a fact because I ran with it not grounded for a while...as far as the sensor on top of the 2g manifold..I have no clue on that as I dont know much about the 2nd gens....you can always check the fuel relay..it may have been damaged...but who knows..on 1g's it is right in front of the ecu...it's a bronze box

Where is the fuel relay on a 2G. Is it in the engine compartment or inside the car.

Yes I did the plug wire swap, looking at the coil going from left to right labeled them ABCD and then swapped A and C and B with D just like it says.

Brian,

The fuel pump relay is under the passenger side center console toward the front of the car. There are two relays there. For some reason mine crapped out and I just did a hardwire bypass since I did the fuel pump rewire anyhow. Is your fuel pump turning on with the ignition? If not that could be part of your problem.

My 98 is not the same as far as ECU's go as your car so I don't think I can be of much help with your problem. The only thing I can think of to check is to make sure your CAS is properly set, ground your transistor bracket, and double check your wiring. Good Luck.

Alright I will try that, I cant really tell if the fuel pump is turning on or not. Also a check engine light is showing up now.

You should be able to tell by listening. When the ignition key is turned on you should here a small wine under the passenger rear seat. Turn the radio off and anything that will keep you from hearing it. If you hear nothing your pump may not be getting power. As far as your check engine light make sure all your emission sensors are plugged in and reset your car by unplugging the battery and letting it set for a few seconds and then reconnect.

Alright I will listen for the fuel pump, if it is not getting power is that what could cause what is happening and do you know what to do to fix it. As with all my emissions, th eplugs are still plugged in but I eliminated all those extra hoses on the intake manifold and all that

Hey I turned the key forward and listened and I heard nothing, no noise whatsoever, so I take it that may be my prob. and how do I fix it now.

Well, find out what's wrong. You can't be told how to fix something if all you give us is 'it don't work'.

Do you smell gas in the cylinders after you pull the plugs?
