I am hopefully soon within the next month going to be replacing the lifters on my car but i was wondering if there were any alternatives to just replacing them with stock mitsubishi ones , if anyone knows of any other ones please reply

I don't know if you know, but there is a revised set of lifters (I think they call them third-generation lifters) that are out there that supposedly fix the problem permanently, and can sometimes be had for cheap. I don't have any information on hand (I'm at work) about them, but if you search around this site, you could probably find where to find them.

just to let you know, i got my lifters from eagleautomotive.com and i only paid 220 canadian shipped to my door which they arrived 2 days later, AMAZING company. i would highly reccomend them!:thumb:

Revised Lifters (3000GT I think) work great for our cars. Larger oil hole helps the ticking quiet down. I got them for $7.78 a piece from a supplier that is referenced on another thread at this forum.

I have a 99 GSX and I replaced the lifters about 6 months ago (took about 2 hours). It was loud as hell for about a day but no it just purrs (or screams when i get into it)!

I purchased a set of revised lifters only to find out that the late 99 models already had them installed. So now I have an extra set of lifters. If you are interested in them just PM me. Basically, once you install them be sure to change the oil EVERY 3000 miles. That should help prolong their life.

What happens is a small ball inside the lifter gets stuck and blocks an oil passage. This eventually causes the lifter to seize in the most compressed position. This allows the rocker arms to come slightly off the lifter and then "tap tap tap" back onto them. All you have to do is follow the cleaning procedure on VFAQ and the lifters will be good as new.

Let me know if you are interested.

I solved my lifter tapping problem for free. Turbos are hard on oil, causing it to cake up. That combined with the apparently smaller than desired oil passage holes in stock lifters causes this notorious tapping problem. Your old lifters are not shot, they've just got dirty over the years. I took all my lifters out, soaked them in gas over night, blew them out with compressed air, and reinstalled them. This cleans out the oil passage. The engine is now as quiet as new, and it's been 10,000 miles.

that place listed on DSMtalk has them for 7.74 USD each, you do the math...

what was the name of the company selling the lifters for $7.76 a piece? As we all know DSMTalk is down so the links to their website no longer work. My friend told me about a company who sold them cheap through DSMTalk and this must be that company. Thanks for the help.
