Toronto,
This is an odd problem I ran into today.. basically after work I drove for 40 min to get home. I got home, turned car off for about 30 min. I started the car no problems and drove for about 20 min to pick up my gf and then we stopped to watch a movie. Come back after movie, the car won't even turn over. So I'm assuming somewhere from home to picking her up the battery decides it doesn't want to charge anymore. No worries, i called my friend he boosts my car. Car starts fine, I let it run for 10 min get the battery some charge, turn car off.. try to start it again and doesn't even turn over. I checked voltage with voltmeter and battery was at 12.84 volts. The only weird thing that was happening was, the ECU was making weird noises, not even like.. a clicking noise but like a ruffling noise. The lights were very very dim when the key was turned onto the ACC position.
After that I took the car home and it drove fine, but the dash lights would flicker here and there.. I park it in the driveway, turn car off.. left the headlights on to see how long they'd stay on for, and they turned off right away. So its like maybe my charging system isn't working right? I recharged my battery at an auto parts store, throw it back in the car and decided to drive it to mechanics. I get to mechanics, and logged the voltage, the whole ride their the car was pushing about 14.3 - 14.5 volts.. isn't that a lot? So once i get to mechanics i Park it, turn off car, turn it on to see if it starts and it deos.. but i still left it to get an AVR test done.. any ideas?? or similar problems?
The battery is about a year old, and the alternator is about 6 months old and the ECU caps were replaced about 10 months ago.
