What is wrong with my car?

OK, everyday my car has blue smoke coming out of the exhaust. I read in my owners manual that it needs a rebuild because it also burnt 2 quarts of oil last week. It is not leaking either. O and one more thing the engine just got rebuilt 20,000 miles ago. I think that its just the turbo and that is what my neighbor said. It has 165,000 miles on it. Ive also been having 2 other problems with the car. Sometimes when im driving all of the little icons by my tach and speedometer blink(gas light,check engine, brake,ect... Another thing is its top speed. The otherday I was doing 110 and it felt like the thing woulnt go any faster. In my neighbors old fwd we were goin 120 in 4th gear and the thing kept goin. I got the car for 2400 and it seemed like deal to me but those are my questions.

I figure the seals in the turbo are bad. More than likely the case.

Your oil burning troubles could be one of the following:

Blue smoke while boosting: Seals in turbo and/or PCV valve
Blue smaoke at all other times; Most likely rings

A PCV valve is the screw-in valve on the back of your valve cover and is cheap from the dealer. That will get clogged over time and causes alot of oil blow-by.

I have a '92 w/80k miles and my turbo leaks a 'lil bit. I can tell cuz my upper intercooler pipe is lined with oil. But I've never had blue smoke, or loss of oil, or loss of HP/top speed. I think FWDs have a slightly better top speed, cuz I have FWD and hit ~140 mph easy.
Check and see how much oil is leaking into the intercooler pipes. Is it thin, or thick like puddles?

Try using heavier oil. When I was running 10w-30, I noticed some smoke coming out of my exhaust too every now and then. Now I'm running 10w-40 and no problems. Some even recommend 20w-50 on older engines. You should try 20w-50 And DO NOT use SYNTHETIC oil if the engine has not always used synthetic oil in the past. Otherwise it will cause leaks, and leaks are bad... right?

We're talking about 165K turbo here. When I pulled 140K turbo, it had about 1" shaftplay and compressor wheel diameter was about 70% of original. And that car was owned by a woman since new.... go figure.

When turbo leaks, however, you'd notice the most smoke in between shifts. You will also pour some oil out of your IC. If car smokes even at idle, I'd place my bet on rings.

What about the head during the rebuild was the valve seals replaced??
