yes sorry I know this is a common question but I do think my problem is a little difference and couldn't find similar answer after search, so I hope I can get more suggestion;

I just installed my Greddy-S BOV, while the adjustment screw is somewhere all the way out (softest), when I try to step on the gas pedal (not in gear, car stand still), when boost gauge show + boost level, it did Bosshhh like normal. But when I actually go out and test drive it, there are some REAL WEIRD sound, not those normal BOV bosshh sound, instead it's very low pitch Qwak Qwak sound..
then I adjust the screw to mid to very low point (harder), still the same.

I have boost gauge and I did watch it....no matter I'm at full boost or low boost level, (anytime that there should be a sound compare to the stock one), it only release that weird sound...

Anyone think it could be some other problem?

any help is highly appreciated. :(

ok I tested it one more time. It produce the weird sound the most at harder setting.
so I set it to the softest setting which the screw is losen already and useless to turn counterclockwise again. In this settin,g I can hear nomal BOV sound ONLY for 1st gear shifting at 5psi for example, and then the rest or other gear will be the same weird horse low pitch sound again...:(

if u have it too loose, it should have a loud squeek at the end after venting off. keep adjusting it about 1/4 to 1/2 turn until u no longer hear the sqeeking at the end of the blow off. this should be about right. the screw should only be sticking up out of the nut about 1/16th-1/8th " at most. good luck tuning. and that noise u said is either at low or high boost, are u sure it isn't your air inlet filter when it is sucking air and when u let off the throttle? it makes a weird loud sound too.:dsm:

ok I reconnect the whole BOV because I suspect it could be my adaptor. Anyway, it's much better now, although I still have to adjust to screw because it's not the right pitch still.

but when I press the pedal hard, it reaches 19psi!?!?!?! (I didn't install the bc yet) I thought my stock boost solenoid will control it to 15 or something?!?!

Just get a 1G BOV. Honestly they perform better than aftermarket BOV's and are far less of a hastle.

I put a 1G bov on my car and haven't had any problem's from, I've read to many problem's with the Greddy and also I got a good deal on the 1G BOV. Now when I mash the gas my Boost hit's about 20 then falls right to about 15psi, I believe since the car can breathe easier the bcs can't react as fast as when the car is stock. Does your's drop back to around 15 or so. I asked about this on another forum and they said that as long as it drops down it should be fine, I'm looking into getting a Greddy Profec B SpecII here soon after I doing the timing belt. Buddy of mine has it on his 1997 Turbo Altima and it control's boost very well, it never spikes on him but now the cars down since his oil return line popped off his T3/T4 turbo.

P.S. Have you done the BCS restrictor mod also.

I concur with this info. My boost gauge does the same. Initially when hitting boost with the pedal to the metal, my boost gauge goes to around 20 psi, but then after a second at most it will drift as you stay on the throttle to a safe 15-16 psi and hold until high rpms for me cuz i have a crappy t25 still.

ok I install my profec-B yesterday, so the boost level is constant.

But since I still don't think my bov's screw is adjusted properly, I change it to vent to atmosphere (no I don't want to, but can't hear the sound clear enough to adjust the screw) , and the CEL comes on. I believe when I change it back to vent back, it should be fine and CEL should be gone!?

btw it looks like my screw on top of my greddy BOV is almost back out to the most losen when it sounds normal without surge!? While most people said it should be real low?

OK, half the guys in my car club have greddy type-s BOVs(including me), and every single one sounds exactly how you think its not suppost to, i thought mine was messed up as well as you thought but thats what it suppost to sound like, so befor you start selling it or what not just to let you know its normal, :thumb:

Thank you WillH19.

is it normal when I hear the funny low tone "quak" horse-like sound when I shift while the boost gauge showing -10 Kg/m Vacuum also?(no boost)

thank you again.

if it spudders when in vacuum just as loud as if you were to let off the gas at full boost then the swrew is to loose, but, if it not nearly as noticeable when you let off in vacume then its normal, nothing to worry about:)

FWIW.. I'm showing about three to four threads on the screw, above the lock nut on my GReddy Type-S, and I'm running 20psi on my ported FP Big28. My GReddy Type-S has worked flawlessly. :thumb:
