ok...so i get a flat the other day, and i realize i dont have the key thing for the locking lugs anymore. the talon is sittin in the driveway, tire empty as a mofo. between firestone, walmart, and a local performance shop around here, nobody has the damn key i need to get the lugs off.

is there any way to get em off not using the key? im desperate here...i hafta drive my moms minivan till my car is up and running

Gitcha a grade-8 bolt _just_ too big to fit in there, grind on some flats, stick it and bingo.

What make are those, I don't remember seeing that kind of goofy keyway before.

If it's from a nail or screw, don't feel shy about using repair plugs. The work just fine so long as your hole isn't right on the edge of the tread.

i honestly dont know what make they are...they came with my konig verdicts i got from whalentire.com
i think my mom orderd me another set of lugs cuz she was under the impression they would hafta be busted off...so we'll see what kind they are when they get here, i guess

i found out they are the Gorilla ones...i ordered a new set to get the key thing...but the lugs i got are Gorillas but look different than the ones i had? i dono..they key works on em, thats what matters..LOL..

When I lost my key to my 4runner years ago I took It to an express tire and they took it off. Most all tire rotating places have the necessary tools.

Good luck.:thumb:

Part of the point of puzzle-locking lugs is that the keys aren't interchangeable. Glad you lucked out.

I realize I'd never seen Gorillas up-close before, I've always used McGuards.

Just go to your nearest Pepboys and ask them. They help me out with mine. They have bits that will ruin the lock, but oh well. With me I had to remove mine.

funny thing was, it was from a screw..but it somehow also poked 2 other tiny holes in the tire? i got some of that tire plug stuff just for the road home, and back to the store once i got the key..

I have never understood locking lugs. They are a pain in the ass for you, and any thief worth his salt knows how to get them off. and if they can't, you'll probably get a flat tire out of it, something your insurance won't cover (it will cover stolen wheels)
