Alright.. So last night, i start getting these wierd sounds that kind of sounded like chattering, metal hitting metal.. So i start to panic, because it only does it when i push the clutch pedal in.. As soon as i start to let the pedal out, the sound stops.. (as soon as it starts to engage the flywheel, it stops..) So I'm thinking to myself that something with the throw out bearing messed up. But on inspection after I get home, the sound is coming from the timing belt side.. (at this point I'm thinking oh s***) Well, the harmonic dampener started to crack and separate the crank pulley.. Now, my question is.
Is it natural, when the clutch is disengaged. (when the pedal is in). For the crank pulley to rub against the frame.? (the black coating is almost completely off on the outside of my pulley, and the frame is missing a bit of paint.) When the clutch is disengaged, is it just the lack of the transmission keeping the engine from vibrating that is making the crank pulley wobble bad enough to rub the frame? or do I have bigger problems then a crank pulley.?
Needless to say, it is saturday, So the dealer isn't open until monday, and they seem to be the only ones to carry the stock crank.. So any comments / thoughts would be appreciated.
