My turbo.. need help

i have a 90 tsi awd,
i took of my intake tubing to check for shaft play, to see if my turbo was on its last leg. When i checked there was NO shaft play at all, and a very small trace of oil. Is there anything wrong with my 14b?

My car burns a little oil, so i thought it was the turbo, now i dont kno what to think...


any ideas?

How much smoke comes out of the tail pipe? Is it on startup or all the time? Is it white/grey/blue? Need some more info.

a small amount of blue smoke, when i rev my engine, the smoke appears most when i start in first gear...

Did you pull on the shaft also to see if there is any in and out play. The oil could be coming from your valve cover vent tube, the one that goes into the intake. check inside your intake tube to see if there is any oil in it. If there is I would check the pcv valve just some thingss to check.

My PCV valve is fine, b/c i just recently replaced it, when i checked my intake there was only a small amount of oil in it and a small amount in my turbo.
Could the seals be wearing out resulting in oil burning?

hard to tell, check your turbo first though and do a compression test. oh and a leakdown test.

How many miles are on the engine? It could be something other than the turbo.

Im pretty sure the seals in the Turbo are worn out. B/c when i looked into the turbo, there was a small amount of oil in it aswell as some in the intake pipe. However there is no shaftplay....
Im confused, i think its the turbo and not the valve seals..
but im sure... WTF should i dooooo

If i do a compression test how much PSI should i be getting per cylender?

Depends on how old the motor is...After 125k or so it would be good to be around 145+ on all cylinders with no more than a 10psi difference between any given 2.
