Knoxville,
I just replaced the passenger window motor and the window switch. When i first put the new switch in and pressed the button it went down about and inch. now the only way i can get it to go up and down is if i wire it directly to a power source like the battery. What am i overlooking that can cause this to happen. The driver side window works perfectly. it was doing the same thing with the old switch. I thought the driver side and passenger side had the same fuse. When i hook up my multimeter, when the switch is pressed it gives out 11 or 12 volts.

The "lock" button isn't pressed, is it? Doesn't sound like it, that should cut it all the way off. Open the door and check the runners and mechanism, sounds like something's come adrift and is blocking the movement.

the lock button is not pressed that is the first thing i checked. The window is all on the guides correctly. The window works perfectly when it is hot wired to the battery but when i try going through the switch nothing happens.

i thought the driver side and the passenger side have the same fuse, plus if it was a blown fuse when i check it with a multimeter i shouldnt get anything should i?
