I know this may sound stupid but how can you tell if you have a bad t-case? Will the car still roll if it is seized?? I am buying one that the owner thinks the tranny is bad how can I tell if it's the tranny (5sp) or the t-case?

If the trans case is seized up the wheels will not roll ,if it is the tranny the car will still roll when not in gear.

So if it rolls but will not move on it's own power than it's not the t-case and it can't be fixed under warranty correct?

Warranty? If the transfer case is bad, possibly... that's the recall. If the transfer is bad, you may or may not be able to move it. All depends on what happened inside. If the transmission is bad, it may or may not roll. If the clutch is bad, it'll roll, but won't move. Not sure if that helps or not.
