I am having a strange electrical problem with the park (?) lights. I started my car tonight and ran inside while it warmed up. I came back out and everything was fine until I got in my car. As soon as I shut the door the park lights, guage cluster, and tail lights shut off. I got back out and checked the fuse to find it blown. Put a new one in and it blew right away. Since I had just finished putting new TB shaft seals in I wanted to take my car for a ride and see how it was running.....so I just said what the hell and went out on some back roads with the fuse still blown. Came back and decided to try another fuse...put it in and it worked! So I decided to go to town and buy some more fuses since I was running low. I got going down the road a couple of miles and the fuse blew again. This time it knocked out my tach, temp, oil pres, and stock boost guages but the speedo and fuel guage still worked!? I was getting pissed and didnt feel like turning around so i just kept goin to wal-mart for more fuses. When I got them and put a new one in in the parking lot it was working until I drove to the end of the parking lot and it blew again. I finally just said #### it and came home.

you got a short possibly in another fuse relay or wire harness OR a bad alternator. I had my 100amp fuse blow, so i reconnected it to drive to the storre to get another one. I parked it, got a fuse, came back out to find my car didnt start. the fuse i reconnected that blew shorted out my entire car, blew a hole thru my fuse box, and melted 4 other fuses. i had melted plastic everywhere and a nice burn mark on my hoods head shield. cost me $800 for labor / parts at the dealership for new alternator and complete wire harness voltage testing.

dont fvck with your wire harness...that baby's like 600 for a new one =(

I don't have the service manual here at home so I will take a look at it at work tomorrow

Its the #10 fuse in the fuse box in the engine bay labled as "Tail." But it runs all inside dash lights, and all outside lights but the head lights.

-Your intermittent short comes and goes as the car move, the only way I can suggest now is with the negative terminal disconnect on the battery, use a multimeter to test for short(continunity) between the lead in the lamp socket and ground(chassis).

-Yes, disconnect the battery 1st so you won't cause more damage as you try to get the switch out of the hole.

By door switch you mean that little black button that gets pressed in when the door closes?
um... yes. But if you find any other switch remotely involved with the door, do let us know. Apoligies for the initial confusion and lapse of clarity.
