Oil Light flashing when Idling

I searched the forums and couldn't find my exact problem, so I am hoping others have had the same problem and know how to resolve it.
I use Mobil1 10W-30 Syn. and after my car warms up and I come to a complete stop my oil light comes on and becomes brighter as my RPMs get near 1k then it stays steady after it drops just a tick below 1k. It doesn't stall out, but continously comes on and off with the RPMs going up and down. Then once I give it some gas and start moving, the light turns off. This oil pressure also drops to nearly 0 when I am idling and raises when moving. None of these problems occurred until I just had the 1G engine swap. Any suggestions would help greatly.
 
I found you looking for the same information. I just bought a 97 GSX and when i stop the oil light comes on after the car has warmed up. I was wondeing if i could put a smaller pulley on or a higher pressure oil pump. Hopfully we can catch some other replies :dsm:
 
I believe this is normal on 1g engines, my car always has low oil pressure at idle and then higher pressure with higher rpm's.. I never have a light come on tho. that could possibly be low voltage.
 
I know on the 2G motors there is the oil pressure sending unit that goes bad and cause the light to flicker on at idle... It just gets gummed up and doesnt read right. There are 2 senders, 1 for the light and 1 for the gauge. When this happened to me (with the light on) i replaced the sending unit fotr the light. At Mitsubishi it's called an engine switch-- Part # MD138993 I'm not sure if it's the same part number for 1g motor.

Now for the gauge... Most of the time at idle the oil pressure gauge is very low and when gas is given it raises. As long as you test the oil pressure while moving and it's ok then you have nothing to worry about.
 
Well today I ran out and got a new sender for the oil light. $6.00 at advance auto and in stock. It is GP SORENSEN 36-5002 Switch. I have a 2G and it took a 1" deep to get the old one off and a 1 1/16" deep tilted sidways to grip the sensor casing to get the new one in. The light has not turned on now, so i am assuming the sensor went bad! Thank God not the damn oil pump!! :dsm: :thumb:
